I just hope we actually try to play Hockey, and not just put John Scott out there opening faceoff.

Depends on how much the Sharks think that they and McLellan would be fined for doing so, with the history the NHL did this past season. (And if Plattner wants to pay those fines.)

Sharks management decide not to make team better, leagues head office gives them more national televised games and potentially a outdoor game.
Go sharks go. Now we can suck even more to the rest of the leagues fans more often on national tv.

It's okay, we'll exact our revenge by forcing them to watch the Pacific Division Title banner raising.

Casual fans will watch for the fighting. Dedicated fans will get a chance to see the youth movement, featuring Comrade Applesaucer.

Depends on how they decide on playing time for burish, brown, scott. If 2 of those 3 see a combined 15 games this will be a worse season by far. I am giving burish credit here because he is an actual star compared to the other 2.

Also depends how much the younger players improve this year. If Demers, Braun, Hertl, Wingles, Nieto, and even Burns and Vlasic show improvement this year then they very well could end up being better or at least as good as last year.

I think a lot will depends if Demers can continues to improve and not regress again, if Burns can make the transition back to D successfully and if Hertl, Wingles and Nieto continue to improve on last years performances. Both Braun and Vlasic are more or less known quantities at this point although they both have the ability and will get the minutes to have the opportunity to get more offensive chances. Will just have to wait and see.

I just realized, for the GCL watchers, this is gonna suck with at least 12 blackouts due to the national broadcasts

Yep, which I do hope they improved this year. It is decent, but could always be better.

You can also use a proxy to fool GCL into thinking you're somewhere else. This works for playoffs too so no blackouts all year.

I wonder if the NHL giving the Sharks 13 national games has anything to do with the CSN-CA contract situation.

There can be a max of 11 exclusive national games.

Depends on 1) who's calling/producing the games. 2) what the specifics of the CSN deal are with the Sharks (and if it will "hurt") their bottom line (locally).

9/23 game @ Rogers Arena start time changed to 6pm.

Edit: although my calendar already had that time set, so perhaps Vancouver is finally getting around to making the announcement?

Interesting piece on how the NHL schedule is built by Pollak. The Sharks org likes long road trips.

Quote:
9. The Sharks do have one of the most efficient road schedules in that when they do travel East, they play more than three or four games per trip. That, by the way, is by the team’s request to avoid both the expense and the wear and tear of what otherwise would be five or six cross-country trips now that they play in every Eastern Conference building.

Start time change.

2/28 game will now start at 7pm (rather than 7:30). HNIC
