I might have to.
I don't see how Horcoff is one of the best oilers of all time.

you also have a pretty weak D. Siltanen, Mironov, and Staios?
I don't think so.

if you don't mind, could you tell me how Mats Lindgren becomes one of the best Oiler centres of all time? played here 3 years with a total of about 60 points. to name just one player, I'd put Jason Arnott WAY ahead of Lindgren.

Jason Arnott is never a fourth line center as an Oiler. He was a first line center.

but this is supposed to be the best oilers of all time, so I'd have arnott as my 4th line center as he is more of an all time oiler than Lindgren, who is all time nothing.

What is the difference between all time and all stars?

I guess you ignored my previous post.

Just for fun, I'm gonna add the challenge of making lines/pairs/tandems out of players who didn't play together on the same roster, except for Gretzky and Kurri who have to be together on any all time team.

Smyth-Gretzky-Kurri
Hall-Messier-Guerin
Yakupov-Weight-Anderson
Tikkanen-Horcoff-Perron

Coffey-Smith
Pronger-Lowe
Hamrlik-Huddy

Fuhr
Joseph

Tried to fit in a couple present day guys.

Hall - Gretzky - Kurri
Smyth - Messier - Anderson
Tikanen - Weight - Hemsky
Simpson - Arnott - Eberle

Coffey - Pronger
S Smith - Huddy
Lowe - J Smith

Fuhr
Ranford
Cujo
Roloson

All of those forward lines could be #1 Lines.. Solid Defense and that first pair is lights out.

Tikkanen-Gretzky-Kurri
Hall-McDavid-Draisaitl
Anderson-Messier-Hemsky
Smyth-Weight-Guerin

Coffey - Pronger
Siltanen - Lowe
Klefbom - Larsson

Fuhr
Salo

Safe to say that McDavid, Draitsatl, Larsson and Klefbom already now should be included in all-time team.

Tried to go with all RHD on the right side, which was surprisingly difficult. A lot of good lefties 'left' off the list (Steve Smith, Niiniimaa, Huddy, Hammer, ...); the only other RHDs I could consider would be Fogolin and Staios. Yuck.

Took way too many pages to get to a lineup with Connor McDavid in it

(All in their prime)

"How can you have him with ..." and "Why do you not pick ..." I look forward to a scary aha experience of having missed the big names that should have been included.

Feel free to make your own all-time team....
Hall ahead of Anderson and Smyth in their prime?

Some people need to let go.

I need to start checking the dates of the first page of posts.

I was losing my mind not seeing McDavid on all the teams.

I'm putting Messier at LW instead of C, he started at LW.

Messier - Gretzky - Kurri
Simpson - McDavid - Draisaitl
Smyth - Weight - Guerin
Tikkanen -Arnott - Anderson

Pronger - Huddy
Coffey - Lowe
S. Smith - J. Smith

Fuhr
Joseph

I'm pretty sure Doug Weight was the first line center and Arnott the 2nd line.

Looks like you were trying to keep guys on their proper lines. Certainly a decent enough idea, but even in that scenario, Lindgren shouldn't be on the team. Norm Lacombe was a better 4C in the 80's. And Letestu was a better 4C this year.

Excuse me if I'm interpreting the question incorrectly, but I'm not sure how any C besides Gretzky, Messier, and possibly Weight can be mentioned ahead of McDavid. Horcoff? Arnott? Really? McDavid did more for the team in one season than those two players did in their entire tenures as Oilers.

Edit: I can see leaving McD out if you are approaching the question like Marc08, with players playing on their appropriate line - obviously McDavid has not done what Gretzky has.

My god. I know he wasn't popular due to being the key piece we got back for Gretzky.

But Jimmy Carson still scored 49 goals and 100 points for us.

:/

Dude was still a damn good player for his one season.

Vinny Damphousse was also good for 89 points. Better than some of the 4th liners listed.

Here's my team of players who have been an Oiler from 2006 and on because I didn't watch the Oilers until '06:

Hall - McDavid - Draisaitl
Smyth - RNH - Hemsky
Penner - Horcoff - Eberle
Lucic - Gagner - Sykora

Pronger - Visnovsky
Klefbom - Larsson
Souray - Sekera

Talbot
Roloson

HM: Pisani, Yakupov (rookie), Stoll

Were they a line during that series vs Calgary in 91 or was that the next year?
