I wasn't annoyed with Rick Nash tonight.

If the Duke doesn't make the team on the opening day, it means that it's impossible for a teen to do it, I don't know what else could be asked of him: scoring, creating chances, lightning skating, defense, hustle.

Duke has been dynamic.

Stemp and Moore were really good, too.

Excited about our bottom six.

Also, props to Missiaen, who had a pretty good 3rd period.

Really good to see Duke with Hagelin. Just too much speed.

So, let me get this straight. We iced:

-our backup NHL goalie
-our #5D
-our #6D
-our 3rd line LW
-our 4th line C
-our likely 4th line RW
-an AAAA C
-an AAAA D
-a couple of additional journeymen D who have insufficient experience to qualify as "NHL vets"
-and ten prospects...

...against 90% of the Flyers starting roster...

...and we came close to tying it in the third?

Nice.

Good stuff!

To be honest I thought our defense was fine tonight. The problem was our wingers had poor coverage on the boards and were being out-muscled (which is to be expected). That's why we couldn't break out of the zone.

Liked what I saw from Duclair and Hayes a lot. Kristo and Lindberg, not so much.

Would have loved the win but that was an AHL team we iced. Duclair scoring is pretty much a win in my book.

Thought Stempniak, DuClair and Hagelin were good up front
Was pleasantly surprised by Kristo, especially on the PP
Hunwick was good, Klein as well
Unfortunately Hayes is a little puppyish lacking that first stride. He needs time in the A top fine tune his game, but he looks promising. Although with a few more gafs and playing a much more defensive game, Lindberg is more suited for a 4th line center role when Step is out IMo. Or Meuller maybe?
That will be the question

Hayes looked really good tonight. Lindberg and Haggerty were rather invisible.

That's the flyers "out for blood?" Barely beating most of our upcoming cuts?

As much as I love Hayes, Haggerty, Hrivik, Kristo and Lindberg, I think they are better served with time in the AHL, let em tear it up down there. With Duclair really on a mission to get a spot, there is no point in keeping any of them. Mueller as a righty centerman and Fast should stay.

Goalies were good, surprised by Missaien who I've pretty much never heard anything good about. I think Duke starts out as a Ranger - if we have to send him down later it's not the end of the world.

Sums it up for me.

Watching the game especially in the 3rd I was thinking how poised these kids look. They already look like vets. I hope the Duke sticks. Give him the 10 games and see what happens.

We can't send him down to the AHL. It's either the Rangers or juniors.

It take great joy in the fact that their NHL team barely beat our AHL team.

I've been very disappointed with Stempniak so far.

There's nothing actively wrong. I was just... expecting more

Our Ahl team almost pulled it off against Phillies (almost) full line up.

Duclair is the only kid that really stood out. He has to stay, he can play at this level. Pair him with Nash, they showed good chemistry. Both will be team leaders in points. There is no way I would send him back to Juniors. What more could you have asked of the kid?

4th line has to be Glass Moore Stemp. Hayes stays until Step comes back. Then goes to Hartford and is first call up. I really like what I have seen from Hayes but a little time in Hartford would be good for him.

Seventh D goes to Hunwick.

Kreider takes Poulliet's place on Brassards line. He is better than Poo in every way.

Kreider Brass Zucc
Duke Miller Nash
Hags Hayes St. Louis
Glass Moore Stemp

Three 1B lines and a fourth line. A little juggling of the top three lines to see who fits together better and then we are set.

You gotta look at him like a slightly younger Dom Moore who will probably put up somewhere between 20 and 40 points depending on how he's used and where he slots in on most nights.

Another good PK'er with slightly more scoring upside than Dom. Looking at him that way will remove any disappointment. I'm glad he's around tbh.

For the unused area, how about the goal/save of the game?
