Not a trade I'd like the real Bruins to do, but this filled a hole on my team, and comes at a very affordable cap hit.

End of an Era

The Ottawa Senators have accommodated Jason Spezza's request. Spezza was dealt to the St. Louis Blues earlier today in exchange for Jaden Schwartz, Edmonton's 2nd round pick this year (previously acquired in the Paajarvi trade), and the Blues own 3rd round pick in the 2015 Entry Draft.

"Any time you have to give up a player like Jason it's tough. Spezz is a top notch professional both on and off the ice, however, and we had to respect his wish. We wish him all the best in his pursuit of a Cup with the Blues."

"We are extremely excited to have acquired Jaden in return. This is a guy that we wanted to draft back in 2010, so obviously we're thrilled to finally have him in an Ottawa uniform at last. The draft picks will help us put some more depth in the system as well."

We currently hold 8th, 15th, and 16th.

We're willing to trade down from 15/16 into the 20's if we get a 2nd.

Confirm.

With Malcolm Subban, Jacob Markstrom, and Eddie Lack in the system we hope we have a goalie controversy in a few years...

Very high on Ryan Spooner as well and think he will step into our line up next year.

Open to move the 3rd overall for a young center. Sure I could use the pick to draft one but I would like to see what kind of offer I could get for the pick.

YAKUPOV TRADED TO FLORIDA

The Edmonton Oilers have traded forward Nail Yakupov to the Florida Panthers for defenseman Erik Gudbranson and Florida 2014 2nd round pick (32nd overall).

"It was no secret that we were trying to find Yakupov a new home as the experience of the last two years were difficult. At the end of the day, Yakupov is a tremendous talent but he was a poor fit on our team considering what we are trying to build. We are thrilled to add a big young right-handed defenseman in Gudbranson. We like his skills set, his attitude and we think he can reach the next level with our team. We were trying to improve our defense and even if the two guys we acquired (Luca Sbisa yesterday) are still young, they have plenty of NHL experience. We are also happy to have another high pick to work with. We wish Yakupov all the best in Florida."

Doing to recon on Jordan Staal. Would want to either re-stock the defensive pipeline or add a young promising blue liner as the main part of the return.

"It took us a few days and many different proposals but we came to a mutually beneficial trade. We are very excited to be adding a talented winger in Nail to our organization. Last season we were one of the lowest scoring teams in the league and our goal is to change that. We feel that by adding Nail we are headed in that direction. We would like to thank Erik for his years of service in Florida and wish him well in Edmonton."

Could consider moving Eberle for a different type of young RW (big and physical guy if possible).

Don't you hate it when you think you have a deal in place...then the next thing you see is the player you thought you were getting traded elsewhere?

With nothing working out, we're opening up our options a bit. The only pieces that will not be moved are Giroux and Simmonds.

We are actively trying to move Hartnell and MacDonald. If you're interested, send me an offer. I'll listen to anything including picks/prospects.

Sean Couturier/Brayden Schenn for a young defender? Anyone?

Bob McKenzie : I am hearing that the Oilers are working on their draft list at the time we speak. If the 3rd overall isn't traded tonight, it will likely not be moved at all.
