Report: Canucks contact Ryan Miller, Bolland

News1130 Sports @News1130Sports
Have learned the #Canucks have called the agent for UFA goalie Ryan Miller. Can't imagine Eddie Lack will be happy.
2:26 PM - 25 Jun 2014

News1130 Sports @News1130Sports
Sources tell me, Miller would have no issues playing in Vancouver.

Mod Edit: So there's no misunderstanding or confusion...

The new CBA allows a week-long "courting period" where free agents can chat with potential employers to see if there's a match.

Tampering? Also believe all Canadian teams were on his list last year because of tax reasons. Flimsy rumor.

I believe you are allowed to speak to UFA's starting a week before July 1st. But no signings can be made until July 1

I think you can start talking to UFA's starting June 25 but can't sign anyone until July 1st

Nope. The negotiation window has opened. Teams can talk to players now.

I hope Bolland goes there. Seems fitting, oddly.

Basically kesler will have to be traded before bolland to come in, which kinda scares me because then it seems like we wouldn't be re-signing Santorelli. Would be much cheaper then bolland and I think he would provide more offense.

If they manage to piss off Eddie Lack and drive him out of town, in addition to Schneider and Luongo, it would be hilariously awful.

Trade a goalie every 6 months.

I'm down to sign Miller. Lack as a starter pretty much mathematically eliminates us before the season starts. After being 3rd row for that game against NYI last year I'll probably never trust him again.

As for Bolland, it already upsets me that the Canucks have even reached out to him.

Keep in mind news 1130 sources are all agents and the odd player, they basically put out to the media what the agents want to have out.

Isn't Bolland the one who made fun of the Sedins publically about them being the Sedin sisters and bunking together or something like that lol?

I know it was when he was with their rivals the Hawks.

I would think Vancouver would be appealing to Miller... he supposedly wants to be closer to his actress wife who lives in LA and Vancouver has a healthy film and television industry.

I don't know about that, I think Santorelli is a lesser player than Bolland offensively, or at least close enough that it doesn't make much difference. He'd certainly come cheaper though.

Either way, he's no replacement for Kesler.

Also said our city is full of weirdos. I'm honestly not sure he would be very well received in public here.

I would have a hard time accepting Bolland as a fan. If Torres is now accepted in SJ I guess anything is possible though.

Would definitely welcome Miller in Vancouver, and we have a lot of money to spend. He's the only goalie worth pursuing IMO, otherwise I would happily go with Lack.
