Oh. This is a fun game. I mean, Yandle is clearly the leading scorer statistically. So now we've entered "make wild claims about how you perceive someone without any statistical backing" territory.

Backman, tatar, Nyquist, and 15th overall for 2nd overall, risto
Nyquist = risto
Tatar, backman, 15th overall > 2nd overall

Why do you want to do that trade if it favors Detroit?

I was being pedantic, not much left to do as this thread has clearly run its course.

Nice sell job.

No, no, that's a terrible trade. Risto and the 2nd overall pick are probably going to be franchise players. Buffalo fans are going to ask for nothing less than Nyquist + Mantha + DeKeyser + Smith + 4 1st round picks for something like that.

I think half the league might be kicking themselves for not reacting when Regier was basically giving away Sekera last season.

So now it's Myers' turn.

Hooray.

Except it's not???

Murray has never said he wanted to deal Myers. He, in fact, said he wanted to build around him. He also said that "every player is available on a 30th place team."

So I guess we need to start the untouchables list with Myers, pick #2 and Girgensons, just because the idiocy we're getting in offers from other teams isn't worth the bother of listening to.

Don't really have a lot to say on Myers as I think he's still a work in progress and should get better. I personally wouldn't want to pay the price most fans believe is his value but would love to get him at what actual GM's trade players for.

The reason for me quoting your post is the fact that you pump up everything Meyers has accomplished and try to negate his flaws but have no problem trying to paint Nyquist as some guy who's had one fluky season. Just sounds like you don't know much about him as a player.

Your comment about Meyers playing in the NHL and where was Nyquist. To answer that he was in college putting up 1.27 ppg. Before that he was in the Swe Jr. putting up 1.14 ppg.

Sure his road was a little longer to the NHL but that's what happens when you go the college route and play for the Wings. You end up spending 2-3 years in the minors or Europe rounding out your game putting up 1.04 ppg average and then making the NHL and being 100% ready.

Nyquist has excelled at every level he's played at. Sure his shooting percentage was crazy last year but you forget that he was one of the top scorers that last couple years before being called up.

I also don't understand that part about being closer to 30 then 20. He's currently 24 with a birthday in September so are we really splitting hairs and taking such a leap that a player that's 25 years 1 month means he's now knocking on 30's door.

Always love this response got the same things when I wanted him nowhere near the Olympic team. Yandle is a specialist on the left side that we don't have a use for, he isn't a fit. It isn't that I don't understand his game it is that when I look at a team need standpoint he doesn't help at the cost it would take to get him. Then we would have to tailor make a spot for him, one that will likely be taken by more importantly a right handed player in Sproul.

Kronwall is 33, how long can he really shelter Yandle and at what cost going the other way. Sure Yandle scores and elite at that and if you built in for that concept hey he is Sandis Ozolinsh. Problem is we aren't built to take him and his problems on so I don't want him especially with the price being steep and it will be considering what he can bring. At no point do I knock his offense, just point out it isn't enough for me.

I have a very good idea of what Yandle is and what his role is and why some teams might value it and pay through the nose for it. The Wings shouldn't, when Team USA was constructing their defense with Suter and McDonagh locked into two roles on the left side they shouldn't. He is what he is, if you have that fit fine, but know that the defensive issues and some of the other warts in his game are real. I have watched him a lot, I watch all of the players. A lot of people around here do, so the run to the well he is our guy and you don't know line is soft and done too often around here. It works with a lot of the prospects, but NHL players are not hard to watch and understand.

He has gotten torched a lot when he is asked to check elite talent. He is a 2nd pairing offensive D-man. A beautiful skater but one with problems, with the right fit it could work wonderfully, we don't have that fit, if he was right handed it would get interesting.
