Both ShattDueces and JVR are signed to cap friendly deals for their production. The Rangers don't have the assets to leverage those transactions.

What surprises me is that the Rangers are not trying to re-sign Moore. I strongly suspected Boyle and Stralman were goners for months because of market demand and whats available in the league. Those two will get their big pay days and receive a premium for their roles.

Pouliot, I am a little surprised by in terms of the 3x3 minimum thats out there, I guess 40 good NHL games will get you that these days.

With the Richards buyout, Poo not back, Stral, and the 4th line, the Rangers have a ton of openings.

I can see Miller and Fast as near locks, with maybe Lindberg and Bourque pushng for roles, and one of Allen McIlrath as options. But with 6 spots open, I would want some experience filling those roles as I don't expect a bunch of rookies coming in and contributing towards a winner.

Should be really interesting to see how it all pans out. Something must be up during the negotiations period where the Rangers know the prices of the players, so UFA options might already be sorted out.

Personally wouldn't include Skjei in either trade.

I understand wanting to get proven talent, but at some point you need to keep a top prospect or two.

Skjei and Duclair are keepers IMO.

You're the one that posted something ****ing stupid. I was the one constantly criticizing everyone for saying Stralman>>>>>Girardi. I was being sarcastic, and you responded with some braindead, idiotic, ethnic comment about Swedes.

I like Stralman but I'd be more than happy with Shattenkirk being on the second pair.

I do agree--my fear is

Stralman walks for more money
Staal bolts next year

And we're left with

Allen
Skjei
Undertaker

I'm all for playing the younger guys but when is to much

Shattenkirk fit everything were missing on the backend

PP QB
Top 4 adman
Signed long term

He's not the greatest Dman but does fit our needs

Does everyone really believe we roll with up to 6 rookies next year--no way.

No prob. I agree. I've found it comical that there's the need to bash Girardi and Klein because Stralman's price is most likely too high.

Meh. 10 goals 45 points and a 5% shooting percentage...he's pretty good though. I wouldn't move Miller with our cap situation.

Yeah, Stralman is a great #4 defenseman. I like the guy and think we should keep him at a reasonable price. But the lovefest has gone overboard

It would make sense as a two-part move. Deal Staal for Kadri+. Deal that "+" and Miller for Shattenkirk. The left side would be a little weak until Skjei or Allen stepped in, but the wait wouldn't be very long.

Most fans on this board don't care for Miller.

Even his own management seemed to have forgotten about him when speaking about the team in Hartford.

Oversite or did they just assume that he was on the nhl roster.

Don't get me wrong I like Miller but he ready for the big time role.

I'm beginning to warm up to the idea of Garbo.

Stepan
Garbo
Brassard
Moore--got to resign him

So is Miller ready to play second line center or waste his talent on the wing where I don't believe he belongs.

Absolutely agreed. I love both Fast and Lindberg, but the two you named might be the two prospects currently in our cupboard that I would be most loath to move - followed by Buchnevich, then Fast, McIlrath, Lindberg, Miller and Allen, in that order.

(Before everyone freaks about where I have Miller ranked, the list above takes into account what I think the return would be for each player.)

Ah well, what can you do.
This would be a strongly one-dimensional poll were it put up on the main boards.

Even if you really thought that, you have to appreciate that with this current defensive corps an offensive defenseman is needed more than a defensive one.

I like Stralman but Shattenkirk is something special.

I can't believe so many are advocating that the Rangers give up on a kid who put up a PPG in the A as a 21 y/o, who is a center to boot.

How many of those have they produced in, I dunno, the last decade, again?

Wait I've been reading for weeks that were trading Staal for ROR.

Are you telling me that's not true.

I do like the idea of Staal to Tor for Kardi plus(Gardner).

But then again not everyone like Kardi and some like Gardner even less.

2 trades could solve a lot of our problems

Stepan
Kardi
Brassard
Moore

Down the middle

McD Giradi
Shattenkirk Klein
Moore Gardner

Ok maybe not the best 3rd pair.

Yeah. And I don't see how J.T. gets that deal done anyway.

I mean, if Stralman, Boyle, Pouliot, and even Dorsett are too expensive to keep, why are we trading away our only viable option to fill any center position from within?

To be honest, I'm not at all blown away by Lindberg. I don't view him as a real option any time soon, if at all.

I'd rather re-sign Stralman and keep J.T.

Miller needs to take the next step this coming season. He seems to have hit a mental hurdle he hasn't been able to jump over yet. I wouldn't give up on him just yet, but it wouldn't surprise me if he does get moved sometime this offseason.

Realistically, Miller is the only guy you can get away with handing a roster spot to next season (out of the prospects)

15 m. cap space should be enough for Stastny right?

Am I missing something on Shattenkirk? I'd love to get him. Fills their needs to a tee, friendly cap-hit.
