Maloney wants Hanzal and Vermette as the top 2 centers? God damnit.

Vermette sucked offensively when he was put out against the team's top competition. If he's going to be our #1, we're going to be looking at the lockout year Vermette again and not MVP Vermette.

I'm guessing they found out he once again wasn't training at all.

They are cutting bait now, and maybe his problems will put Ribs in rehab for a year. Why wait a year and pay him his full salary this year? Maybe something happened with teammates that is unacceptable and unexpected.
"Rehab" is a strange word choice. Intentional?

I just re-read that thread. A few people winced at the money, but everybody loved the signing.

Yup, that's a very real possibility.

Leblanc said " its an expense that wasnt budgeted, but I think it should show people that we are going to do what we need to do from an economic standpoint to build the kind of team we want -- and at the end of the day it will free up some money we didnt't expect to be able to spend this season"

Guys. Day ain't over yet. Breathe. Cap is lower than expected. Several teams need to move assets for futures.

DM said he was thinking about this since the season ended. I would think he would have talked to ownership about Ribeiro before today.

Maloney on being out a 1st-line center again: "Let's be honest. We were out a top-line center for the last 40 games anyway. We all saw it."

Zing.

You noticed that too?

I'm going to put it out there and flame away - I'm damn glad that Ribeiro got bought out. Just like I was glad that we traded Jokinen away so soon after we got him. I was terrified that we were going to have to put up with Ribs for a couple more years, always wondering if he'd bother to show up.

This has been brewing for a while, according to Leblanc. Only reason it got announced today was that it got leaked.

rhetoric
I don't think he wanted to say that they will try to get a replacement for Ribeiro. And considering how Ribeiro played last season, Hanzal and Vermette were the top 2 centers ever since the Coyotes acquired Vermette.

We could be alright if we get a good third line C, like Brayden Schenn or someone else, which would cost less and take a load off of Vermette/Hanzal.

And wow, GMDM is pissed.
