He seems like a high floor-low ceiling pick. The good part about that is he seems like one of the safer picks to be on an NHL roster.

I wonder if not having a second increased the importance to play it safe with their first round pick?

We need a 3rd line center and it seems like with the exception of Andre Nikolishin and Lappy have needed one since Yelle got traded.

I have a good feeling about this kid. I wouldn't be surprised if he gives Patty and Joe something to think about at camp. Maybe he'll pull an O'Reilly and play his way onto the team. We have vacancies on the third line.

I've got a good feeling about him as well. He is a hardworking kid, and those are the ones that you usually find exceed expectations. He has a pretty good skill set, seems strong for his age and weight, nice shot. Skating could use work, which is great since this team seems to really help in that department.

Let's hope he works out, since Mitchell Heard has taken to becoming a good instead.

Deano deserves a bit of blame for that one.

Sutter says Bleackley is not NHL ready:

Quote:
No, hes not ready for NHL hockey, Sutter said. Conner still needs to grow, especially with skating and defensive responsibilities. His vision needs to improve. Im not Colorado, Im not Patrick Roy, but I feel like hes not NHL ready. There is growth in his game. There is a reason he went (23rd) and not in the top 10, but I do think hes a great prospect for that organization.

Another year or two in junior will probably do him good.

FYI, anyone in Denver, Bleackley will be on XML on CBS4 tonight. They post online so I'll link later. Pretty exciting because they almost never have Avs on.

I think the Iginla signing is going to do a world of good for the kid, hopefully Iggy will be settled by then, and Bleacks can live with him.

Bleackley has a lot to learn.

Lesson 1: Dater control. How to deal with Dater. Patrick Roy is the ultimate pro.

He passed the Dater test and even the Chambers "I'm inventing news, guess what you are not making the Avs" test too.

Say what you will, but this guy is going to be a winger for us. I can't see him as a 3rd line center for his career, easily going to be top 6 in the next several years.

Have you seen him play, or is this just a hunch?
I mean I have seen 0 games of him so I don't know at all. Any insight would be appreciated.

And welcome to the board

Watch him sign with Newport right away. That would really suck.

Nah, he already has an agent, CAA. Duchene and MacKinnon's agent, so we'll be ok.

Plus he might be an even bigger Avs fan then Duchene. Those two will be best friends right away.
