I put it into Google so a rough translation of the translation is that his knee wasn't torn too bad and that he will be ready in the fall.

Q: Are you in 100% shape after your knee injury?

A: I'm starting to. I've been able to do pretty much everything since I came back from Florida (to Finland). I haven't done too hard physical exercises and "battles" with other players on ice. I let my knee heal with "peace and time", so I'm ready to play when the season starts.

He uses some stupid Finnish expressions which are impossible to translate.

"Starting to be. I have been able to do basically everything since time in Florida. Of course I haven't been pushing hard and haven't gone into puck/board battles. (a bit hard to translate but something along these lines). I'll let the knee get better so I'll be ready to play in the fall."

I guess they're not too concerned about him participating in the dev camp.

I was hoping his knee would be healed perfectly by now and he'd be practicing and training hard. Is this gonna be another one of those years where our hot new rookie has a sophomore slump because he spent an off season nursing an injury, or is he still capable of running around the gym and working on his skating and becoming bigger, faster, and stronger by next season? I want to see some progression, not regression!

I thought I heard that he was available for the World Championships in May, but the Panthers wouldn't let him play in order to have him focus on getting healthy. Was that just a rumor or am I going crazy?

That's what I remember as well. So maybe we're both going crazy.

Weird... As batting1k said above, he must be healthy enough to be playing as he's participating in the development camp next week. I'm excited to see how he does there. I'm also excited to see Ekblad and Grimaldi in person.

I believe they only scrimmage on the last day. That's the only game/simulation contact that might be a concern. My guess is he'll probably be kept out of the scrimmage. As he should be. A d-camp scrimmage means absolutely jack ****.

It's hard not to root for the kid. He goes all out on every shift. I loved watching him during the NCAA tournament this year.

Who? The same guys who let Huby skate around on a broken foot for a whole season?

Who says he had a broken foot the whole season?

Either way, I don't think they'd have Barkov participating if they didn't want/they were concerned. I'm sure he's been skating and such recently and he's definitely been working out (he said he has and I think there's a couple pictures on his Facebook). He was kept out of the camp because his shoulder was still healing from surgery.

This statement implies that they are competent enough to make such a decision.

Well the Finnish doctor that Barkov went to right after getting hurt in the Olympics said he'd be out 6-8 weeks and it's been a bit more than that at this point.

yes i remember hearing that he was ready to return a week or so from the end of the season but the team didnt see the point of bringing him back for 1 or 2 games when he could just take the extra time to heal

He was clearly brought back from the original injury too early, but even then, he shouldn't have played in the Olympics (I know, you can't really deny that opportunity) and instead taken that time to heal. I know the team has made some questional medical decisions lately, but I'd say they understand now especially after Barkov's situation.

people complained about his skating coming out of the draft, he had a shoulder injury then and said he was able to focus on his lower body strength more, and i think it showed because his skating was absolutely fine watching him last season. i just hope now with the knee injury he doesn't come into this season with less strength in his lower body. its been a while now, I'm sure he's done some skating. he'll participate in the camp I'm sure, maybe held out for the game for precautionary reasons but its just a scrimmage after all. I'm sure he'll be fine. I'm more worried about bolland's lower body than barkov's.
