OT: Anybody play in the ERHL

I know I exchanged a couple PM's with somebody (was it slats?) on here last season about joining. I was a bit too late though so I didn't play at all (besides at outdoor rinks) for the first time in about 8 years.

So anyways, as I said, it's my first season in the league and I was just wondering if I'll be playing against any of you HF Oiler folk. If so, what team and division are you in?

I'm also wondering what this league is like, from what I gather it is a pretty good league.

I am playing for the Generals in division 7.

TA, you will be playing against me - I play for the Red Barons, Div 7. This is the second year in the league for our team.

Not sure why we are in Div 7, since we lost the Div 6 final last year. But it's probably a good thing, since we lost our top two scorers from last year.

I play for the Ice Hawks in Div 8 this year. Might end up playing after divisions get shifted around. (after the 5th and 15th games).

Are you guys from the AMHL, a group of friends or a bunch of strangers thrown together?

Last year, we were a bunch of strangers that didn't know each other before our first game. Needless to say, our first season was pretty rough...summer season got better though...

You will be playing in my division this year....some of us who used to be on the Gators(Two time summer champs....not so good in the winter... ) have started our own team called the Xtreme.

We are a clean team, play hard, and try to have a good time. Watch out for the Outlaws if you end up playing them in whatever division. Not so clean...

I like the ERHL...good league, well run. Mostly clean players.

See you on the ice.

Slats, my first game is against you.

Funny thing is, my team was started by a couple ex Outlaws players, they are pretty nice guys, but I have yet to see them in a game situation. I believe I will be on a line with them as well. If they do play dirty I will be make up for it with my clean play. I have 4 minutes in penaltys in 10 years of hockey (though five were as a goalie).

And Glimradnor, yeah we are pretty much just thrown together and it showed the other night when we had a little session. If we can get some chemistry our team should be pretty good. Our goalie is solid, so he should make up our sloppy play.

Were you on the Gators last summer?

We had a pretty good playoff series against them in the summer.

I found that there seemed to be a few different personality types on the Outlaws in the past few years. Some were the nicest guys and some were just arseholes.

I hope you got some of the good ones.

I also hope both your teams lay waste to the Sundogs.

You have some sort of vendetta with the Sundogs?

Well I just hope I didn't end up with the dirty players, it is really frustrating. Probably because I used to be on a team in which I was the only good player, so they pretty much relied on me to kill the penalty. I probably blocked 10 shots a game...and I was a forward.

Yep...we are two year running summer champs. We all liked being on the same team so much we decided to break from the Gators and start our own team. Nothing against the Gators...pretty good guys in the winter too.

As for the Outlaws, there were a couple guys, who I won't name.

Just stuff like, us scoring the empty netter to seal the championship and one of their guys punching one of our guys in the head as he skated by....

Most of their guys are pretty good, only one or two bad ones.

And Toothless, good luck....it is supposed to be fun, I am sure it will be. I played some junior when I was younger and this is my 2nd winter playing after two summer seasons. Great way to keep in shape.

Most of them are great guys. I have pretty big problems with a couple of them though. I was a bit choked we only got to play them once last year.

I hope we can move up a division (which would be awesome) or they get bumped down.

They were the first team I cam into the league with and we parted ways under less than ideal circumstances.

I led my team in scoring for the playoffs and was near my team's top in the regular season. My hands were solid all year long.

It was a great year. Hope the winter is too.

My stats definately wont set the world on fire, but that's ok because I am usually a defensive defensman.
Last winter:
24GP 1G 5A 6PIM

Not tooo sure what happened in summer league. as a team, I think we finally started getting some bounces:
13GP 3G 8A 8PIM

Go here http://members.shaw.ca/erhl/ and email the league.

At last night's meeting they said they had a list of 71 players looking for a place to play. Maybe they will create a couple teams.

Well you guys worked us (if you played, slats). That 5-2 score really flattered us. I should have had 2 goals, I fanned like a mother in front of the net once and had all kinds of room once in front of the net and I fanned on the backhander too.

Man...I had chances all night long. If it wasn't for your stellar goaltending the score would have been worse. What we did notice and a few of us commented on is that your overall team speed and skill was very good and as you guys mesh into a team, you will be fine. It looks like we will likely both hang out in the same division. Nice to see that it was a clean game....Hartley came over and shook a few of our hands before the game....it was a nice gesture....I told him to save his hard feelings for the Outlaws.

I played (#9) and scored our fourth but could have a couple others. But I am starting to get up there and my conditioning is terrible....

I expect you guys and us to have some close battles along the way.

We beat the Outlaws 8-2 yesterday, and if they are considered a "dirty" team then I'll take playing against them anyday. That was the cleanest game I've seen in the ERHL - 18 minutes between the two teams. Maybe their cheap players weren't playing? When our team started out in Div 5 last season we were in some ugly bloodbaths with teams like Killer Instinct and the Bullets.

I don't know how I managed it, but I was the only player on my team who didn't hit the scoresheet... though I can hang my hat on being the lone forward killing a 5 on 3 advantage... successfully. Once a grinder, always a grinder.

What happened is a few of the "aggresive" players are no longer on the Outlaws, although the big guy....(#27?) did attack our smallest guy in the playoffs in the summer.(Like just come up and started throwing punches...)

Sounds like they might have cleaned it up. Nice....that is great to hear....it is always only a couple bad eggs....

My next game is against the Outlaws, but from what I gather (as they say themselves) the Outlaws "overly passionate" players ended up on my team. But I think they have straightened themselves out.

It was a good game even though we got worked pretty badly, we only had nine shots and three of them were mine. I was #14 (the short fat guy )

Your were #9? I wasn't really paying attention to numbers, I was watching sock color.

It will be better when both yours and our jerseys come in...ours are ordered and should be in the end of the month. (Tampa colours.)

I have no clue what our jerseys will look like. Unfortunately I don't think they'll help me put the puck in the net too much.
