Toronto needs a center more and a ton of RFAs to get under contract. They only have something like 24M to the cap ceiling and only 11 players under contract. They will push for a center and for Boyle.

Hey ladies and gents. Just a quick reminder...Let's not post anything from bad sources. NHLrumorrrrrrrs.com and whatnot shouldn't be trusted. There's going to be a lot of crap thrown out there just to get hits and to fight boredom (I guess).

i'm gonna go with..

1. Stastny
2. Richards or Roy
3. Moulson or Vrbata
4. Bouillon (heard MTL is not bringing him back. safe pick up. sign him for a year and he'll probably retire.)

Could possibly still be a trade for that #1 C if we don't land Paulie boy.

Same reason all the other guys are heading to free agency - the money they're looking for doesn't mesh with what the incumbent team is willing to pay for whatever reason (value, team fit, better/younger/cheaper in house options).

If Poile wants to make a splash.

Radim Vrbata 2 years 3 mil per
Mason Raymond 3 years 3 mil

Offer Stastny 7.5 mil for 7 or 8 for 5 force him to turn down stupid money to go back to Colorado or sign with St Louis

Pick up a veterans d guy that can play second pair for a year or two at 2 mil per if Kimmo makes 2 mil he can sure find one in that catagory.

He would need to shed a couple mil off the current roster Borque, Stalled Berg or even Wilson.

Neal- Stastny Raymond
Vrbata- Fish- Wilson or Stalled Berg which ever one is kept
Mosier or Forsberg- Jarnkrok- Smith
Clune-Goose- Nystrom

Weber-Josi
Jones- Veteran Dman
Ekholm- Ellis

Rinne
Hope like Hell Rinne does not miss many games if its Hutton
Or give Hellberg a year

If its not Stastny then Richards will likely be the guy.

Vrbata is going to get a way bigger contract than that and I want Smith in the top 6.

He did just call the Briere trade (though speculated the wrong team).

If we come out with Brad Richards and Matt Moulson it will be a good day IMO. Two legit top 6 guys IMO, I think Richards has been unfairly maligned in NY and he would do better in a smaller market.

Raymond is in no way a top 3 winger, he's a fringe top 6 winger even on the preds

I forgot Stastny is from St. Louis. That's a potential buzzkill for sure. I think he'll be overpaid but that's what free agency is. It's better than us handing out large contracts in free agency to Nystrom. And Cullen. And Hendricks...(Stalberg still has potential and his contract isn't awful).

I get the feeling that when Poile says he won't "just sign anyone for the sake of signing someone" he means it, but I wouldn't be surprised if he's willing to pay a metric boat load for the right guy, like a Stastny or Richards. Maybe a Moulson.

It appears I'm the only one, but I'd rather have Vinny than Richards. Richards has been declining at a steady rate the last 4-5 years. I think Vinny has 2 good years left in Lavi's system as a #1 center. Then we buy out the last 2.

The only place he's scored was the Islanders (3 consecutive 30 goal seasons) ... 23 goals last year in 75 games last season & his numbers took a dip the last two years

I wonder if Matthieu Perreault has turned up on Poile's radar scope. Had a 40 point season at center last year (annualized projects to 50) for the Ducks. Relatively young for a UFA. Could be had for about $3.5/$4M. Over 50% on faceoffs.

When exactly has he been given the chance to
play top 6??? Behind the twins et al in Vancouver or with the Leafs????

He does not need to be the primary scorer on the line I suggest but he will contribute alot. He deserves a chance and would not be an expensive piece and would keep money free to offer Stastny stupid money.
