Damn good move by Dallas. Was circling them as a major up and comer for the past two years, and this certainly helps.

Not elite yet, but think they'll be in the very good category next year.

yeah... i remember that time that all three of those teams played their way right past us in the playoffs and then just barely missed the SCF this year.

Indeed. Here we are. Looking forward to either Handzus' ghost, or the a shell of Brad Richards' former self occupying line 2. Truthfully, I think we could do worse than either of those options, and probably will. This team views the 2C position as the most non-essential one to fill on the entire roster.

That's not a thing anymore. It was before all of these moves started happening. It's not funny anymore.

The real winner in the Spezza trade is Paul Stastny. He's now the clear top center on the market.

Our 2C answer.
The more things change the more they stay the same.

I really hope this team doesn't plan on him filling that spot heading into the season. He is a nice depth guy, but he should not be occupying a top 6 role on a regular basis.

Yep. At this point, I'd view Richards in the same light as the Kings viewed the Gretzky trade. We WILL do A LOT worse.

That's not a thing anymore, too many people rubbing their eyes and having a look around.

Why does Bowman not deserve flak?

That Bickell deal turned into a disaster , Rozy and Leddy are both returning so bottom pair is again unreliable (Made worse with fact Rundblad is #7) and the team wont have a #2C again

I am sorry but Bowman deserves plenty of flak

Stars and Ducks are threats to Hawks and addressing needs with bigtime center acquisitions at bare minimum cost

And no ones saying that he doesn't, but the go to response of way too many posters is to act like we just got played when another team made a move and we're screwed as a result.

Exactly. A wonderful core, but a core that did not win last year. Meanwhile, our top competitors are all improving, as expected.

I was really hoping for a fun afternoon but am getting treated to the same whining about teams doing stuff the Hawks are mathematically unable to do! Watch what happens when Stastny goes to a team for "nothing" because that team had room to fit him.

I remember hearing that teams were after Jim Nill for years before he finally moved on to Dallas.

In two years he's proved why all of that interest in him was justified.

Bowman is to the #2 center, what Jerry Angelo was to a WR.

When a up and coming team like Stars in Hawks division lands Jason Spezza and a top power in West lands Kesler ,, While Hawks work hard to re-sign Regin certainly that is a very concerning situation for Hawks

I don't have a problem with Bowman. Or Q. But it's indeed puzzling the way both approach the roster and how it translates into an on-ice product. This team is the perfect mix of awesome, and completely bat***, out of this world ****ing bizarre.

It's tough to stay on top. We've witnessed that over the past few yers. But...it's getting even tougher. Much much tougher. The west is going bonkers. It was the toughest conference by light years last season...and it's going to be even tougher this upcoming season. I just want to see what this team does to combat what's going on around them. If "stand pat" is the answer, ok...but I'm curious to see how we fare with that approach.

Pretty much. At least Bowman has success to fall back on though.
