A lot of years obviously. But NJ sorely needed that scoring punch and Cammalleri provides that maybe more than any other UFA. Great deal for them overall.

New Jersey has turned into the Legion of the NHL. Nothing cool, just a place where old people go to play crib, drink, and wait to die.

This puts New Jersey back into the elite of the league. A Cup contender for sure now. East is gonna be tough this year.

Should really help their offence. Like this a lot for the Devils.

Not a great deal IMO.

Cammalleri needs people to do the dirty work for him. It won't be Ryder, that's for sure.

Why the hell would he be playing with Ryder? He'll be with either Zajac/Jagr or Elias/Henrique.

No, not Ryder.. but basically that's all we have right now. People who can do dirty work but not finish.

The deal is probably a year or two too long but the AAV is nice. I'm thinking we got him to take a lower AAV by giving him an extra year.. hopefully enabling us to sign another mid-tier UFA this year.

Don't understand how this is a bad term.

Was someone REALLY expecting him to sign a 2-3 year deal?

Get real.

High risk if he doesn't fit in the system. Too long of a term but if he fits in, it might work out great. Too much puck possession in NJ and not enough shooting at the net. Hopefully Cammalleri can solve that problem.

The biggest question is, how is he at shootouts?

Right.. but he's only 37 and on this deal for a year.. not the whole 5 years

it's a year too long easily but the AAV makes up for it, IMO. Especially if it leaves us enough room to snag another scorer this offseason.

Like this deal for the Devils. They are set in goal, have a great young defense. And their offense should keep improving.

Zajac and Jagr will do all the dirty work on the line with him. He is a great fit for those two who needed a goalscoring LW on that line desperately last season.

Term is maybe 1 or 2 years too long but he was always going to get 5 years on July 1st from someone. At 5 million dollars it's a good deal for New Jersey. The man knows how to score goals.

it's not terrible. Certainly not good. He just turned 32... that last year can be rough. We'll see. who knows what occurs 5 years from now.

He's a good player. While injured a lot, he's got a good points per game (502 in 669...)

****. Wish he stayed in Calgary. Fierce competitor who doesn't put up with people who pull their load and a great example for young kids. Pretty much exactly who you want mentoring rookies in a rebuild.

I thought he wanted to win a Cup with his attitude... Looks like he was just chasing money. Sad. Term and money are fair for him.
