Bigger, RD for bottom pairing, 2nd unit PP guy. I like it.

Good signing. We get him for a short term, cheap cap hit, and he can put up 30 points.

Gilbert is a good defenceman and better hockey player than Gorges, bigger, better skater, plays RD, 2nd pp.

Love it

I'll hold off on saying anything negative. Maybe another Weaver success story?

Means Emelin goes to LD with a righty D like Gilbert. Gretest news of that news...

A bit on the soft side for a guy his size but he can skate and move the puck so that compensate a bit.

I'm neutral on this for now. Will have to wait and see how Gilbert does with us before passing judgement

Short term and not a bank breaking cap hit. Not bad.

Gilbert was number 2 on my RD list after Stralman.

Nice.

I thought he played PK back in edmonton, I'll have to check that. I don't see why he wouldn't be good at it.

cheers

$2.8 mill for a guy who can log top 4 minutes and run our second power play, don't see how people are hating on this signing. He's got size, is a very good skater and a right handed shot.. he'll definitely help us.

No reason to not be thrilled with this boys. He can defend as well as gorges but he can move the puck better AND be a threat on the PP.

Be happy.
Something like this.

Same. I don't read much into how he performed last season. It's the Panthers after all.

Maybe but i doubt he ever tried.

Not a bad signing but to me Gorges fitted our need better other than playing on the other side.

Well, I'd rather have Gilbert over Franson.

Yeah Gilbert isn't a blocking machine like Gorges but he's better at everything else at hockey.

Gilbert is better offensively and has better possession numbers. Don't see what everyone's *****ing about

Gilbert isn't that physical. Probably the same as Gorges. Essentially people feel more secure only because Gilbert is 2 inches Taller. That being said, he's still a good d-man

What's with the hate? From what I understand he was pretty good last season. It's short term low risk high reward if he actually returns to form. He's a RD too with top 4 past with Oilers and recent past with Panthers.

This beats Franson/Boullion/Murray
