True. Still thought there would be something more on this. Could just be waiting to finish up details because Gionta was obviously the 1st signing to finalize.

This signing didn't make the HF Free Agent Frenzy Main Board list yet.

I'm cool with this. Guessing he and Kaleta will probably take turns on the 4th when the other inevitably gets injured lol.

Great move. 4C or 4RW? Wonder where Foligno slots in, especially after Moulson signing.

It's still more than I thought Cody would get.

Now dump Scott and players of those ilk forever.

Even if I liked McCormick, 3 years for player like him isn't all that palatable.

Capgeek doesn't have this or Foligno in yet so a quick add up puts Buffalo ~$4M under the floor. Ennis will handle that, right? Floor achieved, pending further moves.

Longer term and higher pay than I thought he'd garner, but am pleased with the signing. He's a Sabre, and proud to be.

You couldn't be any more transparent if you tried. (That's a compliment, btw.)

John Scott has good hockey sense. He plays a safe game, and is NOT taking a spot away from any of BUF's prospects. I do not expect him to be re-signed (given Murray's prior statements and inferences), but your vitriol is laughable in my eyes. We agree to disagree.

Ennis will probably get similar money to Hodgson, so yes, his contract should put us at the floor. I can't believe Murray got this almost all taken care of in one day.

He might be the worst player in the league.

John Scott is terrible at hockey and would be nowhere near the NHL if he wasn't big and punched guys. I understand the need for tough guys, but they should at least be able to play too. Cody fills that sufficiently. And he's getting paid enough to gladly get his face punched in for the boys.

BUFFALO, N.Y. (July 1, 2014) --- The Buffalo Sabres today announced that the team has signed forward Cody McCormick to a multi-year contract.

So why did John Scott make it and not tons of other guys who are big and can punch guys?

Oh right, because he's actual decent at hockey. Granted, AHL level / fringe NHL level, but still.

He's better than Andrew Peters was, at least.

Glad to see Cody back. I'd be more leery of the contract amount and his durability were it not for our current situation, but... who cares.

Damn, not a fan of McCormick at all...Would have liked a tougher guy like Shawn Thorton.....McCormick tries to fight but he's just not that good...And he has like no skill set....

Like him for the tank...3 years is a year too long, imo....

Damn, was hoping he was gone for good...&*#$%$

McCormick is a better player than Thornton now. Thornton is toast. McCormick handles himself just fine in fights.

And his face looks like a soggy potato. The guy's been through it for sure.

He's had some bad stretches during his time here, likely as the result of head and hand injuries, but I've been a fan from day one. He plays a simple and effective game on the 4th line. He doesn't back down from anyone, but that's not even his primary value (unlike Scott). He's also the perfect guy to be able to put in the press box, because he doesn't have some outstripped ego.

He had a bounce back season last year, particularly looking like he had new life with the Wild. Hopefully that carries over.
