He just won't let go of the Coyle at center notion no matter how many times you flash his terrible faceoff #'s in front of him. Coyle is fine at center, but better on the wing.

Agreed. Being on a line with Haula and Fontaine/Zucker isn't to bad either. Hope Zucker has a good camp

Meh, he's still a young coach. I wouldn't put such hard words as "ever" in there. It took him while to put Haula over Brodziak, but he still did it.

OH SNAP!

He can play on the right side too so Coyle´s spot in the top6 ain´t excatly safe either.

He also did it under the pretense of being able to put Brodziak out under other scenarios to make up for possible lost time. Difference from Coyle to Nino minutes-wise was pretty large both PP and even strength. Hopefully, he'll change his mind.

I'd rather he did play on the right side actually.

Parise - Koivu - Vanek
Nino - Granlund - Pommers
Cooke - Haula - Coyle
? - ? - Fontaine

I thought him playing the right side was one of the issues in the playoffs last year, but maybe not.

Russo just said that Vanek has a strong preference to playing on the left side, so it's a lock that Parise/Vanek are the top two LW's.

Absolutely great terms for the Wild. Vanek declined a 7 year 50 M deal from the Isles to get a 3 year deal for 6.5 M a year. At the end of the day, maybe Vanek was right when he said money was not important to him (LOL). That is a lot of money he turned down to play in Minny.

More power to him if he thought 50 M was not enough to buy happiness. 99% would have took the money and ran since it is a big difference in guaranteed money he is leaving behind. He and his wife really wanted to play back in Minny. I guess money is not everything for some players at least.

I'm glad Vanek and the Wild found a way to make their mutual interest work. Three years is a great deal for Minnesota, avoiding serious risk. I hope Vanek, Pommers, and the rest have success next year.

While that might be his strong preference, he's played equally well at RW over his career. He particular likes playing on the left side with a right-handed center, which is why Vanek-Hodgson-Pominville was so great in '12-'13 (in addition to Vanek playing amazing hockey for a stretch).

He's already made $50m+ in the league. Also, let's say he comes in and has 3 seasons of 25+ goals. Now he's in line for another contract, only with what is likely to be a higher salary cap. He might have given himself a chance at more than $50m.

Hmm... well our only one of those plays on the 4th line. I thought playing on the right side was one of the issues in the playoffs for him last year.

Playing on the left side in NY worked out well, granted he was playing with Tavares.

3 years sounds great but i don't know how Vanek is going to fit, the identity of the team was last season gritty, fast with some skill, and i don't think gritty and fast when i see Vanek playing.

Fast? When we had Heatley, Moulson and Koivu in the lineup?

Vanek isn't fast, but he's faster than those 3 are.
