No offense to him because I like him for what he is but I hope we've found 4 better top 6 wingers by 2016 or 2017. He's a winger who's apparently very good in the locker room and isn't useless so he can have a positive effect on any young forwards we put in the top 6 the next few years. He slots in very well depending on what mood Ted Nolan is having in regards to Ennis/Hodgson playing musical position chairs. And that's really all there is to this signing.

I don't hate the contract I just feel in years 4 and 5 and possibly even 3 that he wont be a top 6 capable forward and he has no place being on any teams bottom 6 but those are problems for another day.
I also have some trepidation about the later seasons of his contract. That said, it may be that he's the Ray Sheppard type specialist at that point -- PP time, O-zone starts, etc... due to an influx in higher end draftees. I hope that's the plan, that he'll be the weakest of their top 6 by years 4 and 5 of his deal.

That said, his enthusiasm about returning is great to see/hear. Perhaps they are starting to turn the corner in terms of league-wide perception by the players.

I thought the comments by Gorges and Moulson about Pegula and Nolan and the kids coming up were really cool.

I think a lot of people see the #blueprint coming together.

7/2/14: MATT MOULSON ON WGR <14:03>

Matt Moulson confirmed that the Sabres were his first choice because of how he was treated by the Pegulas, et al. during his 1st stint in Buffalo. Totally believes in the direction that the Sabres are going in under Murray and loves Nolan as a coach. Has a limited NMC in his contract.

Haha. Looks like some of you are going to have to change those jerseys after all!

I agree with the above that he's ghostly in the playoffs. It's just the way his game is, I don't think he'll be able to change that. BUT, I do like the fact that he'll be really helpful for the greater portion of his contract in the regular season, to help us get IN to the playoffs once our team is more competitive. The guy shows great leadership in the sense that he WANTS to come to Buffalo. I mean, how many free agents who are 29 and can get big contracts from contenders choose to sign with the last place team in the league which is also in a smaller city...not many!

This is another player saying he loves playing for Nolan, hopefully his love for playing in this organization will help him constantly put up 20+ goals every season!!!

And inarguably two of the worst: Buffalo's and NYI's thirds.

Matt Moulson looks like he is perpetually surprised about playing hockey. Courtesy of what I say are the best eyebrows in the NHL.

Did Vanek wear 9 jerseys as well? I know I am the oddity with this one but I actually like the color combination of the Isles 3rd jersey.

Montreal doesn't do third jerseys, so Vanek only wore 8, at most.

I was thinking about this too but I don't think Montreal has a 3rd jersey

Vanek was traded right towards the end of October, while Buffalo didn't wear their 3rds until late November, so looks like he only wore 7.
