LoL is far worse than Dubs .. what was even more funny was those two were the goalie tandem in Edmonton at the beginning of the season last year.

I am .. I guess ok about this signing. I really hope Smith stays healthy...One of our AHLers will end up as starter by the time Smith gets healthy if he ever goes down.

I thought Montoya was a starter for NYI for a little while...

He's a peach of a human being and an almost unmitigated disaster as a goalie.

They must feel like Visentin is a little closer than I would expect, because I think a two year bridge goalie would have been better.

I would have rather taken a chance on Lindback's contract if we were committed to a one year.

Although I'm surprised we couldn't land Monty or CJ or even Greiss for 1M, I'm okay with Dubnyk being Burke's latest miracle worker cause. He was playing behind a pretty terrible defense and coaching for much of his career. He should be able to rebound into a decent backup here.

Some nice highlights of Dubnyk. I like his form. Makes me think the gongshow in Edmonton took its toll on his Sv%.

I guess it has to do with ice-time. Smith played 62 of 72 games last season (he got hurt in Game 72 vs. NYR). But I have no issue playing Smitty for 70 games if he's good and healthy. We will live or die on his play anyway.

"The hope is that he plays well and becomes a valuable asset, whether it's to re-sign him or do something else with him." - Maloney on Dubnyk

True. Let's hope this season Smitty stays in beast mode for as much as possible.

Great value signing. Dudnyk had a rough year but Burke is a perfect mentor for him.

Big and seems to position well..Would never want him as a starter though. Hopefully works with Burke and improves. Be nice if he could be good for 10 to 20 games.

Interesting to hear Maloney say they thought of the guys in the price range they thought DD had the "best chance of becoming a starter for us"...
Buy low, sell high? Or ..?

If Burkie was the one pimping him, I'd feel a lot better since as far as I'm aware, he pushed hard for Greiss, and saw a lot of potential in Smitty when we first signed him.

Having five one way forwards playing in front of him certainly didn't help much.

Had a tryout with Carolina's AHL affiliate and was released after one game.

Yah. GMDM said Sean Burke "drove the bus" on this signing.

Odd turn of phrase, for sure, given DD is obviously the backup. Probably just poor word choice instead of some sort of slip up.

Laugh it up all you want, but Anaheim will probably make the playoffs next season and we won't.

They'll probably just stash Barbs in Norfolk, and roll with Gibson/Anderson. Then when injuries arise, they can unleash Jason the joke. He's a horrible back-up, but probably will do fine with as a #3, AHL starter.

That's the kind of optimism that makes us such a terrific hockey fanbase!

Haha. Just take a look at who we signed today. If you're impressed, kudos to you.
