Congrats Willie! It's well-earned, and I'm happy for ya. He'll be an excellent influence on all those good young D in Florida.

Such a good signing for Florida. Mitchell will be very missed in LA. This is likely his last pro contract, so he went for the money. Good for him.

Panthers' fans will not be disappointed with this signing. He's not 30 anymore but he still brings so much to the table.

I didn't expect him to end up in Florida, nor did I think he'd get that much money…but I'm going to miss him on the Kings and I hope he does well and helps gets the Panthers back in the playoffs next season.

Not even remotely.

Mitchell averaged 22:19 and led the team with a +10 in the Playoffs.

Obviously he's well past his prime but he's still a valuable player. Especially to a team like Florida that needs veteran leadership.

Went for the money. And no one would blame him.

Mitchell should be a great mentor for Ekblad. I am surprised that a contending team was not able to get him for less money, but if Willie is looking for one last payday more power to him. He was a warrior for the Kings.

Well it's only 2 years. We need someone back there. I'm ok with this signing.

The Panthers got a good player but this is most definitely a pretty hefty overpayment.

All this "not a good deal" stuff... I like the player. Is 4.25 going to somehow hamstring the panthers in the next two years? Of course not. Have room, get player, good term.

Testimonial to Willie Mitchell: fans of teams he's played for always wish him well when he leaves.

CLASS act. Another guy I'd like to see return to the Wild organization in some capacity after he hangs 'em up.

Wish the Kings could have kept him but thankful for the time he spent in a Kings uniform, and his work in helping the Kings earn their 2 cups.

Wish Mitchell nothing but the best in Florida.

You think the guy who signed with the Leafs is better? Colour me shocked!

Mitchell is a better player for sure. Solid signing by the Panthers, he'll be a great mentor for all the kids there.

The cap hit is a tad high but this is a nice pickup for Florida. Plus it's only two years.

I think he will be a very good mentor for the young defenseman there. I think Gudbranson is the one that will benefit most. Its clear he's not going to be a true #1 two way stud dman but Willie can help him become what he was. A big, strong 2nd pairing shutdown dman.
