That's a line up without a single hole. We're actually overloaded with forwards with Andrighetto hopefully challenging next year. I'd like another top 4 d-man, but hopefully Beaulieu grows into that role this year. End the season with this:

Beaulieu - Subban
Markov - Gilbert
Emelin - Weaver
Tinordi
What the heck happened to Bourque? I know he disappears for stretches at a time, but not to that degree.

And let's be real. Desharnais is not an ideal 1st line center (though with the way the Habs deploy lines, its not a deal breaker, they made the East finals last year with him as #1 center). Sekac isn't likely to get a top-6 role, and could be in tough to be in the top-9. The Habs have holes, every team in the league does. But Vrbata would fit in well the team philosophy and would be joining a goo team on the upswing.

With solid depth in our bottom-6, we can afford to play our top line a bit less, and preserve their minutes of TOI.

I mean, it's obviously not the perfect lineup. Far from it. But I think it'd be quite competitive.

I agree - when looking at the East.

However, I don't think it's competitive compared to the top teams in the Western Conference.

I think either the Habs or the Sharks. Maybe the Sabres if they want to overpay him to hit the cap floor.

If he signs with the Sharks, you can pretty much close the book on significant FA additions for us.

I can't disagree on DD, but Gallagher is doing very well for his age and is improving each day. I wouldn't count him out. He's the kind of guy when put on a line he jump starts it big time. He can play up and down the lineup on any line pretty much.

DD as a #1 C is a definite hole, he barely brings the points and offers zero intangibles.

I could see him coming to Van.

First of all, the team is a lot closer to contending than people like to admit. Last year was the exception, not the rule. The 2015 Canucks are basically the 2013 Canucks, only with some pretty significant tweaks and new found cap room.

Secondly, selling a guy on the opportunity to ride shotgun on the Sedin twins wing is pretty enticing, last seasons trainwreck excluded. I'm not sure how physical Vrbata is, but if he can forecheck/hit he might be the perfect winger for them. He shoots a ton.

I'm glad the Canucks 'missed out' on some of those brutal deals yesterday, but really hope they get Vrbata. If not, they'll be stuck with Setoguchi or the ghost of Dany Heatly. Not many scoring wingers out there right now.

We have a weird lineup. Our top 3 lines are pretty much interchangeable, people tend to refer to the DD line as our 1st line, but, if they're off one night, one of the other line will play more, simply. We only have 1 'real 1st liner', and that's Pacioretty, beside that, our top 9 is filled with 2nd liners (ok, maybe not Bourque, who's a 3rd/4th liner who can play like a 2nd liner once in a while, and Galchenyuk who's a potential 1st liner, if Therrien ever let him play center... ).

So, if Vrbata signs, he would simply round out our top 9 perfectly.

If it's a hole then a lot of teams have holes, including Stanley Cup finalist NYR, Wild and TB.

As much as I like Gallagher, I'd rather have him on a 2nd (or an offensive 3rd) line and not overuse him. Dude is incredible but I don't think he would last more than 10 years playing around 20 minutes a game and being hustled in front of the net.

I'm assuming Bourque will be traded. I never said DD was ideal. We'd essentially roll all three lines equally. The Plekanec line would be our shutdown line, and from what little I know of Sekac is that he's a good defensive player, and Vrbata definitely is.

Proud of my fellow habs fans in succeeding making this thread a Habs thread. Keep up the good work guys!

And of course, Vrbata will sign with us!

Ian McLaren from The Score seems to hint on his twitter account that the Bruins might be out. Says Vrbata would like to play with his buddy Plekanec.

Don't know how reliable this info is.

Let's see, if I was in Vrabata's shoes
Sekac - Plekanec
Havlat-Elias
Hertl-Thornton

one of these is better then the others

I mean it seems like he likes playing in warm weather, we have the cap space....come on dude you know you want to

San Jose aren't even in the rumoured list of teams. Apparently down to New Jersey and Montreal. All of the Czech players in NJ will also be retired before a 3-4 year deal would finish. He'd get to play all those years in Montreal with Plekanec.

Personally I think Vrbata would take Montreal over NJ but all comes down to the contract offered and the Habs have 15.5 left with Subban ( 8mill ? ) and Eller ( 3mill ? ) to sign so might be abit tight unless MB trades Moen for a pick

We would have a cluster mess of forwards but need the goal scoring

the last 'official' rumor had them in the running, I would like to see a source saying it's down to MTL and NJ
I think it's probably down to Ari,SJ, MTL, NJ and an outside shot TB
