A variation on the Comrie to Atl proposal

Does anyone like this?

To Atlanta:
Comrie
Rita
Ferguson or Allen

To Edmonton:
Stefan
Exelby
** with Edmonton reserving the option to flip 1st round picks in 2004

Obviously Lowe is gambling on this one, but I think it's a bet worth making. Atlanta does not have the experience and goaltending to improve much on last year. All things considered, the Oil can expect a season reasonably similar to last. If that's the case, Atlanta should pick somewhere between 5th and 10th, the Oil between 15 and 20.

Is all of this worth moving up as little as 5 places and as much as 15 in next years draft?

I, for one, think so.

Thoughts?

Atlanta lost Heatley and Snyder...they are a weak team and that could possibly land the oilers Ovcheckin...done in a heart beat

I'm not convinced ATL is as bad as some think (they might still be a playoff team, who really knows?), but somthing like:

Comrie
Rita
Ferguson
EDM 04 2nd

for

Stefan
Exelby
ATL 04 1st

would be certainly worth considering (maybe that's a homer trade proposal, who knows?)

I agree. I don't think that Atlanta will end up in last place. Pittsburgh is by far a weaker team. Unless Pittsburgh trades away their draft spot, Ovechkin, will be a Penguin.

Actually it's not bad. Maybe i'm being biased too but I like the looks of it. In fact you can probably flip the EDM 04 2nd with a 3rd round pick????

If Atlanta is strugling and is in the bottom two or three they won't DARE trade their pick as Ovechkin is worth more then Comrie (if they win the lottery).
