How many active players played at least one full season since 2006?

Oh the number of times I've read this line about player X.

How many times have we put a genuine top 6 talent who's scored 28 goals in this league on Sid's wing?

I'll wait for your answer.

No, we need Burns more than we'd get trading him.

Martin's played 80% of available career games plus almost another full season of playoff games, that's not injury prone.

Martin's value has dropped since he's made it known he plans on testing UFA Summer 2015. If Jim Rutherford decides to move him the package back won't be Platinum but more like Silver.

If this were true it would return a 1st line goal scoring winger with a good all around game but Martin is not a borderline #1 D and Sutter is not an elite #3 C.

Some pens fans saying Martin is a #1 D and Sutter could be a #2 C while others are willing to trade them both for guys like Perron, Nelson?

Sutter+Martin for Perron+pick/C-prospect makes too much sense.

The cap savings would make up for the disparity in value.

Where did he make it known he plans on testing the market in 2015?

Martin's an elite #2, I guess you could consider him a #1 as there aren't 30 other dmen better than him.

Sutter is a good #3 centre, doesn't produce enough offense to be a #2 for anything more than a few games.

Wonder what the Pens would be willing to give up for JVR.

Nelson's going to be really good, the one thing about Sutter is that he's got more experience in the AHL.

Honestly, why not just keep Sutter? You can still get a solid winger in free agency.

On the other hand, feel free to send Paul Martin to the Isles.

Martin is a top pairing d man while I think Sutter is a very solid 3rd line center with some 2nd line spot duty center upside (with the right linemates)

He played uninspired and just all around terrible at the beginning of last season, but was paired with the likes of Glass, Gibbons, Adams, Pyatt etc. Closer to when playoffs rolled around and he got to play with Bennett and Stemps, his offensive production and all around play in general improved a ton

Paul Martin is a cerebral, puck moving dman who's very solid defensively. He's really fantastic overall, but the pens have so much defensive depth now and a lot of young dmen knocking on the door that he can be moved for where they need help, which is on the wing. He's also 33 not 38, and doesn't really rely on physical traits to be effective anyway. With his smarts he can be a top 4 dman for years. But yeah you're right i think this package is worth way more than a Perron.

Kings could use Martin but not at the price he's at now.

I do like Perron, but I think if Martin and Sutter are both going, Edmonton has to add, otherwise make it Sutter+ and leave Martin out of it.
MacTavish has said the core is untouchable. That includes Eberle. Not to mention that if Pittsburgh just traded Neal to create cap space for more wingers, it simply wouldn't make sense for them to bring in Eberle.

The one year on Martin's deal is a bit of a hold up for Edmonton. Personally, I think 2 years of Perron is worth a great deal more than either one year of Martin or Sutter as an RFA. I'm sure MacT would want it to be Perron+ for Martin and Sutter, with the + being a Musil or Simpson level prospect or something. If Pittsburgh doesn't like that deal, then I don't think anything would work in this situation.
