Jeff Petry for a 2C

Elliotte Freidman said a few days ago that Edmonton may move Jeff Petry.

Also, Edmonton is in need and looking for a centre man, whether that be stop gap or not.

So Ryan Rishaug put two and two together on Jason Gregor's show just now and said that they might be looking to trade Petry and a pick or something for a 2C and that is what is holding up Edmonton from signing a 2C right now.

Who do you think is out there as a 2C that some team might want Petry+ for?

I think it would be crazy to trade Petry. We finally have some depth so we're going to trade him?

So next year we're going to use Klefbom Nurse and Marincin? Or we could keep Petry and let them properly develop.

Pretty much this. Our D is back to trash if we trade Petry for a forward.

So the worst team in GA trades their best d-man for another forward? #OilerLogic

so we finally develop a decent top 4 defenceman in Petry, only to watch him prosper on another team for a stop-gap solution at 2C

if MacT does this, then things really never do change

Well there would need to be another trade in the works, something like Boychuk from Boston. But that is for another thread.

Ideally it would be Petry+ for a 2C

Than acquire Boychuk from Boston.

I say deal for Boychuk first, then the Oilers are in a position of strength to move out a d-man for a center

If we could land Boychuk cheap I would do Petry+ to NYI for Nielson. Not sure how big or small that + would have to be.

If that 2C is Sam Gagner, then maybe.

I heard EDM has sizable interest in Patrick Berglund, but it would be hard to imagine trading Petry for a pivot 3rd line centre

Petry himself is not good enough to land you a decent 2C. You'd either have to add or settle for a 3rd C fringe type player.

Josh Bailey, Michael Grabner, or Frans Nielson could be on the table from the Isles. What would it take?

On the isles thread I offered Petry, islander pick of Lander/pitlick/musil/gernat and a second or third round pick for Nielson.

Finally when the D core is looking half respectable with the addition of Fayne and Nikitin and emergence of Marincin/Klefbom they want to deal a quality 2nd pairing guy. Greeaaatttt.

This is like when Petry was emerging and they dealt Gilbert for Nick *****in Schultz.

Rather just trade picks/prospects for Berglund or Bailey. Hell Id almost rather trade Schultz as Petry is the better player now, and will be for 1 or 2 years

Pitlick and a 3rd sign me up. 2nd might be a bit too much, but if it happened I wouldnt lose sleep.

I really like Gernat so hed be the one id trade last.

I think having a good 2C better for this team than having Petry. I think schultz, fayne and a replacement level player (Derek Morris?) Is a better dcore on the right than we had last year regardless.
