Why such low interest for Devin Setoguchi?

Because it isn't very good. Or even good at all really.
I am happy to see him go.

Think he'll get a Raymond deal late in offseason.

He played last season like he didn't want to be a hockey player anymore.

This thread succeeded in making me miss cheechoo.

As for seto, I know dw ran him out of town due to his attitude but I would take him on a try out or 1 year deal if we really are in a rebuild. John Scott has to take a night off eventually.

to be fair Setoguchi was doing fine first ~20 ish games - (was 4th best point producer amongst Jets forwards at just under 2p/60)

then Kane got injured and Noel put Thorburn with him and Jokinen

well, attaching one of the leagues worst boat anchors with a mediocre shoot first center and a guy like Seto who can't play a lick of D sounds like a recipe for disaster...and it was

could still be effective on a 3rd line but you'd need a good possession driver to do the heavy lifting and someone who's at least a decent playmaker - I mean he'll skate hard and hit guys but not the greatest hockey IQ

to the Rangers fan who said he could be this year's Pouliot - just no. Pouliot has been a great 5v5 scorer/solid possession driver his whole career while Seto is the definition of complimentary

That was the knock on him here as well. Can't remember if it was Fletcher or Yeo that made mention of guys not being conditioned well after Seto was traded. Likely another reason Clutterbuck was moved also.

Loving the people coming in to say he's the new Jonathan Cheechoo. By that logic, he's also the new Jordin Tootoo. Any other non-caucasian north americans we missed generalizing while we're at it

Honestly, I'd rather sign Heatley to blast one-timers, drink vodka, and race boats in a Leaf uni.

I don't think people said it because of his skin tone but because both of them put up record seasons playing with Joe Thornton.

Good on you for being a vigilant social justice warrior, just waiting for someone to offend you so you can shame them, but I imagine the comparison to Cheechoo comes from them falling off the map after leaving the Sharks.

I would give him a 1 year deal deal to play in Philly.

FIFY

Stay far away from Seto. He'll do nothing but tease you with his talent and leave you feeling so unsatisfied.

haha maybe. I wasn't offended. There's not a lot of similiarity to their games though.

Why exactly didn't scouts pick up on all these tendencies of Setoguchi's before he was a high draft pick? He was supposed to be a bit of a stud.

Because he does have a lot of skill. When drafting 18 year olds, you are projecting. He had the skills to be a top line winger.

But he never put it all together. He isn't the first high draft pick, and won't be the last to fit that description.

Someone will sign him, he's a 40 point secondary scorer. He doesn't generate his own chances for the most part, and needs a center he gels with.

But he'll get a job.

He is getting married soon so the partying will likely be cut down severely

Why do misinformed people post garbage like this? Cheechoo's body broke down during his tenure with the Sharks (knee and sports hernia issues) and just couldn't skate at a pro level anymore. He is one of the most determined and hardest working players I have watched - nothing like Seto in that regard.
