Actually RNH was hurt, and Gagner getting hurt is exactly what you can predict, because exactly what the team lacked then and now is depth at the most important position of the ice. Your team's in **** shape if Gagner getting hurt results in Arcobello and Hall being your two top centres.

As it is now, if RNH gets hurt, it's Arcobello and... who?

Yup. With the recent acquisitions, I'd be ok with a 2C that plays big even if he isn't.

But not one that plays his size of 5'9".

So yes to Ott, no to Roy.

Best Case Scenario: Arcobello and an acquired C (FA or trade) in the 2 and 3 holes.

Worst Case Scenario: Draisaitl and Arcobello in the 2 and 3 holes.

I don't think anyone should underestimate this 'brain trust's' ability to utterly fail to address a weakness and then convince themselves that status quo is probably good enough.

I care enough to remind people what they are Actually hoping to see happen when they post these things. Because it's obvious few even pretend to consider that.

As for the "Brain-Trust" status quo self convince, blah blah blah, are probably really unimpressed that Dubnyk's still hear and that Fraser got re-signed.

For **** sakes people.

I don't have any idea why we would want Ribero or Roy. Both are older versions of Gagner and one of them is a pos. Why not just keep Gagner if we were to sign either one of these guys. Legwand would be perfect if we could get him for 3 year but i'm guessing he wants 5 years for his retirement contract. Ott would be nice on a 2 year deal. I'd even take Lecavalier if the cost to obtain him is a 6th or 7th round pick.

Fraser isn't still here, but Aulie is, and he's quite likely actually worse than Fraser was

at least there really isn't anything to be excited about until we get a 2C, it makes it easier to deal with no hockey

He's not based on foot speed alone.

Doesn't Lecavalier have like 100 years remaining on his contract? No thanks. What is it with Philly and wanting out of a deal they just signed? I don't even know why they did it, Giroux, Schenn, and Couturier is solid down the middle.

Hockey Buddha, I'd like to thank you for always coming in with the right attitude, phrasing and vision at seemingly the best moments.

Cheers to an excellent post.

We just picked up a couple big bodied wingers and drafted a big C. Size shouldnt be a big factor now.. Legwand had less than 50 combined hits last season and was a minus player for both NSH and DET.
Faceoffs arent that great. 51% with NSH and 49% with DET.

Arco had 78hits in half a season and was over 51% on the dot. Arco had 15 ES points in 41 games.. Legwand had 32 in 83 games. Not sure how much PP either would get considering all the other skilled players we have.

Legwand would definitely be an upgrade over Arco but we shouldnt be losing sleep over losing out on him.

I think we're going to have to steel ourselves to 1 of 2 things happening:

1) Nothing, and we head into next season with

Hall/RNH/Ebs
Perron/Arco/Yak
Pouliot/Drai/Purcell
Gazdic/Gordon/Hendricks
Joensuu/Pitlick

OR

2) Perron, Petry, or our 2015 1st gets moved. I dont see a combination of assets that allows us to retain all of Nurse/Marincin/Klefbom AND the above pieces that would get us a 2C better than Roy/Gagner.

Who's available for some combination of Khaira/Gernat/Simpson and next year's 2nd that is an upgrade on Roy or Gagner?

Oilers can't fit that much of a Cap dump if they acquire Sharp.

Chicago isn't trading Sharp.. and even if they were I'm sure another team could put together a better package. St. Louis is the team to target IMO.. Berglund is the best fit for us. Maybe the Islanders too with their logjam.. I wonder if they'd consider Petry for Nielson?
