Trading crosby?

I know this wont happen, but if crosby was to get traded what do you think they should/would get back for him? What would be reasonable.

Nothing. No team would be willing to gut their organization to the point it would take to even get close to Pittsburgh considering doing that, let alone actually making it happen.

It would take: A boatload of first rounders, probably like 2 or 3 of your best roster players and throw in a couple A level prospects to top it off. That's just an estimate too. Pittsburgh could just as easily demand more.

Let's just get this thread all out of the way right now.

Posters suggest huge price to get Crosby.

People talk about how this thread has been done so many times before.

Posters talk about how their teams wouldn't pay these huge costs, it wouldn't make sense for them, they'd sooner stick with what they have blah blah blah.

Posters respond yes but that's what it would take and is part of why it won't happen.

Homer suggests they wouldn't trade (insert franchise player here) for Crosby because of injuries/wouldn't fit as well in their team/defenders are more valuable.

Leafs fan makes some offer like Kessell, Kadri and a first that everyone else thinks is a bit of a laugh but the Leafs fan actually thinks it's fair value.

If Pittsburgh eat some salary, I bet they can get a good package of futures.

I think you've pretty much summed up every trade proposal that's ever happened in the "Trade Rumors and Free Agent Talk"

The difference between Stamkos and Crosby isn't Hedman by himself. Let alone add Drouin, Palat, and a 1st that would essentially be a guaranteed McDavid because what's left of TB would be a bunch of plugs. That's not even extreme overpayment, that's a joke.

As an Avs fan I wouldn't trade Mackinnon for Crosby straight up and I'm sure Tampa fans would want to see what they have in Drouin before they move him for anybody.

Hahahhahahhahaha, Crosby may be the best player in the world, but is this offer serious? Get real, it wouldn't take this much

Really? I like MAC a lot but he's not worth Crosby straight up.

No. I've already said in this thread I wouldn't do Mac 1 for 1. Certainly wouldn't add Landy.

Edit: the reason being that Mackinnon has all the tools to be the best player in the NHL. While Crosby is currently the best player, he probably has about 10-12 years of hockey left and maybe 6 prime years. Mack has about 18-20 more years of hockey left and he's not even remotely close to entering his prime yet. For me the reason I wouldn't trade him 1 for 1 is that you simply get Mac for longer.

Listen, I'm not the biggest Crosby fan out there trust me, but come on. Mackinnon is a nice young player, very promising future, but he's not anywhere close to Crosby one for one.

Oh ok you edited it, Even so, Crosby is still the better player, wether or not Mackinnon becomes the best well, that's not a certainty. Crosby had a 102 points his rookie year, Mackinnion on a loaded team had 63. Don't get me wrong I like him, but straight up and even though Sid's older I think most everyone would choose Crosby. Keep in mind Sid's currently 26. He's not exactly over the hill here. May actually improve.

True story, I had a Leafs fan last summer tell me he would rather have Lupul than Crosby because of Crosbys injury issues.

The guy was a complete idiot, unfortunately he was my roommate at work.

I mentioned this in the other thread. Has to be said again. This year 13 players were a ppg and only one had 100 points, Sid. In Sid's rookie year, 37 players were at a ppg and I believe 8 were over 100. Scoring was off the charts his first 3 years in the league.

You say he still could improve, yet give a stat saying at 18 he scored 102 points, when 8 years later he's only scored two more points? He hasn't really improved then my you're measure, has he?

If Crosby were a rookie this year would he have 100? I'd say there is no chance, I'd give him a ppg and that's generous I think.

If you look at Stamkos (who Mackinnon is compared to generally) you see he scored 46 his rookie year. Well, that's not exactly a sign of a future 60 goal scorer, is it?

The eye test shows that Mackinnon is going to be a top 5 player in the NHL with like 90 percent certainty. I'd rather have a top 5 player for the extra 8 years or so rather than the best player for a shorter period. If Crosby were even 23 I'd add to Mac for him. But I think in any trade, if you're getting over 5 years older you'll likely regret it at some point.

That's just me though.
