Where is Michael Del Zotto?

I understand that he had a bad year, and wasn't even qualified by Nashville, but has anyone heard on anything relating to him? Did his game fall apart that quickly? With all the teams looking for defensive help, it's hard to believe that somebody hasn't made an offer to a 24-year-old former first-round draft pick. Ever since free agency opened, I haven't heard anything about him.

His demands are probably still too high.

Teams looking for defense won't be all that interested.. Teams looking for offense from the blue line and PP d men on the other hand...

I do agree though, I can't imagine someone doesn't take a chance on him on a 1 year 'prove it deal'

I think he'll get the Tom Gilbert treatment - sign somewhere out East for cheap with very little pressure and rebuild some of his value.

Which is actually better. I don't know why people keep saying we need RD, because our shortage is LD

I think you're confusing LD and RD - the position and LHD and RHD - the handedness. Every last one of our D prospects shoots left.

I think SJ and Winnipeg would be interested.

If a team needs defensive help, MDZ probably isn't the player they would look to.

He made $2.9m / yr on his last contract. I doubt the offers coming in for a new deal haven't been that interesting (to him/to his agent) so far as I suspect they've been <$1m.

He probably has a ton of offers, but they got by him easily.

You know, because he's terrible ?

I'm guessing you mean the year he spent in Florida and not the recent signing in Montreal which is far from little pressure.

Will probably go to a lower echelon team that will give him lots of minutes, especially on the PP. 1 year deal, then hopefully can parlay that into a nice contract next summer. I'm thinking Islanders, Panthers, Devils, Oilers, etc

You can probably rule out the Devils. No room for him. Even if there were room, I don't think they would sign someone whose defensive ability has been questioned for his entire NHL career.

The offers were too strong for him to handle, he probably skated out of the way and allowed an easy shot on goal. Oh wait no that's just him on the ice.
Seriously if you can't make it on the 26th worst team who has one of the best defensive systems around, then maybe he just isn't good enough
