I'm really not. Maybe you need to look closer. 3 of our top 4 dmen shoot right, and our 2 veteran LHD can both play the right side

If I'm Edmonton and I've got some cap space after resigning Petry and Schultz, I'd give him a 1 year deal.

I hope the leafs sign hime . Hes a great young defense men . Of the leafs sign him they have the option of trading gardner for a solid 2nd line center

Maybe, but the Wings are trying to contend now and need defenseman who can play good defense. He's redundant on the Wings; he's not RH, nor is he capable of playing a shutdown role.

The part that I find ironic about this is that DelZotto lost his spot to a guy who went through this same stuff in Stralman. And in the end, Stralman turned out to be a really good defenseman. I think DelZotto is going to click eventually. My asterik is going to be if DZ has some sort of off ice issue that nobody knows about. In that case all bets are off. But the kid had alot of talent, and on top of that, he had times when he was a very physical player. If he can ever put it together, somebody can get in on the ground floor on the rebuild, and I truly think he will wind up as one heck of a player.

He'd be so far down our depth chart it's not even funny. We'd have zero use for him.

I don't know when you saw Stralman, but he was never a dumb hockey player. His problem early was that he thought he was Bobby Orr.. Once he simplified his game, things improved.

Del Zotto, from what I've seen, is the poster boy for every tool but no tool box. Stralman always had the tool box, he just wasn't using the right tool for the job.

in Nashville, while we were still in the hunt for the playoffs, and desperate for offense, he was benched in favor of Victor Bartley. Who is Victor Bartley, you say?

Exactly.

David Poile has made some really good moves but trading for MDZ was not one of them…

Im wondering if he will have to accept a two way deal, and is on the way to Jonathan Blumming his way right out of the league..

MDZ will get a job somewhere on the cheap. The Sharks could use another LHD. And they'll need to replace some of the puck-moving that Boyle left.

To be fair, he said prospects. Klefbom, Marincin and Nurse all DO shoot left, although Schultz shoots right. He doesn't really count as a prospect anymore anyway, but he's kind of like Del Zotto in that they both probably haven't reached their potential. Del Zotto has played a couple hundred more games in the NHL, though.

I would not associate the word "DEFENSE" and MDZ together.

DZ is all about offense and hitting when in position to do so

However his defensive coverage is mind numbingly inconsistent to the point where NY shipped him out of town and Nashville felt it better to lose him rather than pay his qualifying offer.

DZ can skate, pass and shoot, there is no doubt about that. Sadly he isn't a forward and is responsible for playing "defense" in his own zone which to this point he CANNOT do on a nightly basis. If he can learn how to do that he will make a team and its fans very thankful.

So far in his young career he has not been able to do that, ie turnover city especially in his own zone

best of luck to him

So pissed the Avs aren't one of the rumored teams after him.

LHD is literally our #1 need. Why the hell wouldn't we bring him in for 1-2 years...? We all know he has potential.

Guy will definitely get another shot somewhere.

Unless there is some major character or personal issue I'm not aware of?

Too much talent, even if he's had a couple rough years

Why exactly do we need a 2nd line center? We already have two of them in Bozak/Kadri.

Del Zotto reminds me of Niskanen and the struggles he went through but eventually overcame with Pittsburgh. They both have talent, both had the pedigree as 1st rounders but both fell on hard times at a fairly early point in their careers. Pens already are pretty stacked on D though. No room for him here. I think Del Zotto could bounce back somewhere one day though.
