A big **** no to that.

Would oilers fans do a straight up Kane for Eberle deal?

Eberle for kane sounds like it would be a perfect trade. Jets get some high end skill and edmonton gets some raw physicality with goal scoring ability

As much as I would like Kane, I wouldn't want to give up what he'd likely cost.

At the time, he had just come off a 61 point season. He was still a top 6 center at the time. He wasn't a TOP free agent, but he was one of the better ones.

You said the Jets need a RHD. Where would he fit if we got one? We have a RHD depth of:

Trouba
Bogo
Postma
Kitchton
Glover
Pardy

In a vacuum yes. Since hes essentially asked out/being shopped id move Perron+ for him maybe something around Klefbom+2015 2nd+ since you need LHD.

Kane-Draisaitl-Yak would be obscene.

He was definitely the top C available. Go look at the 2012 UFA list.

On another note these trade proposals are just embarrassingly brutal.

Just to be clear you are saying no to a blue chip prospect, a future solid top 4 guy, a 50 point 2 way centre and a first round pick ?

A late first, Andrighetto is not a "blue chip" by any definition, Plekanec is already 31 and only signed for 2 more years (doesn't fit the Jets timeline AT ALL), Pateryn is essentially a slightly less proven version of Redmond who we just let walk in UFA so basically zero interest sums it up.

I hope Benning makes a huge push for him if he's available.

winnipeg has to overpay to get free agent players for a reason. The best thing to happened to edmonton is now they can say our city is more exciting than winnipeg... They have to deal with the same issue. I'm not saying the team will never be successful I'm just saying in comparison to pretty much any city in the nhl winnipeg gets the short end of the stick. A guy like kane wants to be in a city other than winnipeg and frankly i don't blame him...
Everybody overpays to get free agents except cup contenders. How "nice" or "exciting" a city is has little or nothing to do with it. Why does Detroit still attract players in spite of the city essentially falling apart?

What fascinates me is how firm That's Hockey was regarding his trade value and whether they should keep him. Kane has essentially asked for a trade without actually saying it. If you look at Kesler and Spezza. Well, that is not a great position for Winnipeg. Will they garner a better return? Probably due to Kane's age and contract status, but it won't be the king's ransom TH talked about.

What about something like:

B Schenn
Robert Hagg (LHD prospect)
2015 1st

Hagg's looking like he could make the jump to the NHL sooner rather than later, and the difference between Schenn and Kane isn't that big. I've heard Winnipeg needs a center like Schenn. With the way Philly's played lately it's very possible you get a shot at the McDavid lottery with that pick too. Does this get it done?

We could throw Grossmann in too, he's a LH shutdown D. Dont know if that's something the Jets would be interested in, but the Flyers would need to clear cap space for Kane somehow.
