We invited Viktor Svedberg back in 2012 and then signed him in 2013.

Svedberg got signed by Rockford out of his first camp and then signed by the Hawks the season after, if I'm remembering all that correctly.

There are a couple guys in this camp that, if not with the Hawks, will be NHL players some day in my opinion.

I'll be there for one of the scrimmages, likely Tuesday or Wednesday, not sure yet.

Didn't the Hawks draft Svedberg, then never signed him and after that invited him to camp as a FA invitee?

Anyways, I was really wondering about the guys that were never drafted and have no pro experience.

He went undrafted. Invited to Prospect Camp, Rockford signed him as a free agent and the Hawks eventually signed him to a contract. Was in the SEL prior to Rockford.

No pro meaning no AHL?

Trevor VanRiemsdyk looks like the only one who fits that category.

Yeah, but he's not a 'FA invitee' the Hawks signed him. Yes no AHL, that is considered pro hockey.

I'm talking about the guys on the roster in the OP who's names don't have a link and are just in black.. The guys with the double asterisks after their names (**).

Have to go to the way back machine. Been awhile since the Hawks did something like that.

Dunno, Sutter?

edit: nvm, he was drafted 11th round.

Yeah, remember he scored like 12 goals in 6 preseason games and pretty much looked like a Patrick Sharp on roids, then the Hawks signed him and he slowly disappeared...

However, I think he had previous pro experience tho..

Yea, Sutter was drafted - all the Sutters were drafted.

IMO, Ed Belfour might fit this bill. I don't know if he was a invitee with no contract tho. I know they signed him out of North Dakota, but I don't know the circumstances surrounding his scouting.

He was just a free agent signing like Leblanc etc.

Hoping to hear something about the Swiss Invitees (Marti, Kukan, Walser), especially Kukan is playing good hockey in Sweden so he should be noticed in some way. Marti and Walser are decent prospects as well who are playing in the Swiss National League. Not sure if they'll ever see NA hockey again, but it would be cool if they take their chance here.

I'm hoping that we may again get a prospects tourney up here in Canada. Last season it was in London. If so, I'm going to try and make it again. Funny thing is: The players that impressed me last year were the older Broadhurst and Svedberg, however the entire team's pace was impressive.... good hockey to watch.

Yes, the prospect tournament is returning to London in September. IIRC, the teams involved are Leafs, Sens, Pens, and Hawks.

edit - here's the schedule http://mapleleafs.nhl.com/club/news.htm?id=722784

Thank-you for posting the schedule. I just circled the Sept 14th game against Pitt on my calendar.
