Chicago is already guaranteed pick #54 for Hayes.

Bickell could be moved for value, as players worse than him were getting similar or more money as UFA's.

So, it would cost you your 2nd round pick +.

Just a guess but from all the articles I've read it sounds as though calgary already has a good chance to sign him when he becomes a free agent. I think they will just take their chances.

It'll be hard for them to do so, because im sure Tallon in Florida will be all over him, like he was for his ex-Blackhawks.

You'd have to give up a pick better than #54 for rights to Hayes. As for Bickell, I'd give him away for free to clear cap space, even though his salary isn't out of line given the recent ufa signings.

I wouldn't trade a thing for him, I think the Flames have a fair shot at landing him this offseason.

why would we give up a great asset like Bouma to get a guy we have a decent chance at signing in August?

Hayes will not be traded, he is not worth more than a 2nd round pick IMO.

Exactly what AF and Hoxville said. If we're in doubt we could trade for Jimmy Hayes.

He's going to sign wherever he is going to sign at this point...whether that's Calgary, Florida, Boston, etc. Just wait and try and sign him when he becomes a free agent. And then the Hawks get the #54 pick in next year's draft as compensation. Everyone wins!!

Wait until August 15th and sign him as a UFA. Trading for his negotiating rights makes no sense. At this point he is going to sign with the team of his choice if they want him.

As for Bickell - he is not a cap dump. He's a good player who started last season recovering from knee surgery and then sprained the other knee about a month into the season. He should score more goals this season than the 11 he got last year.

Maybe not peg leg Bickell. Two-ish leg Bickell did pretty well in the playoffs.

Zero interest in trading for him. I'd take my chances of him signing with Calgary.

Take our chances and get JG to give him a call. Why would we give up an excellent youngish bottom 6 guy for a chance to sign a guy?

Why pay anything when they can have him for noting after Aug15?
He's not going to sign with Chicago
he either goes to Fla to try to play with his bro
or he comes to Calgary to play with Johnny Hockey and Arnold, his buddies.

It's not nothing - it's a 2nd round pick.

This.

Regular season is what it's all about. Playoffs are just a tacky afterthought

I wouldn't say that but the post season certainly depends on the regular season.

Bickell may be Claude Lemieux, however he's nothing special during the regular season...Then again he doesn't have much of a role either.

IMO, Byfuglien was better at standing in front of the net or crashing the net.

Not during the regular season he wasn't. Byfuglien was the exact same player as Bickell during the regular season for the most part when he was with the Hawks.

And what do you mean by the post season depends on the regular season? Do you think the Hawks are in danger of missing the playoffs if Bickell doesn't play well?
