That's a negative, from this Stars fan.

Not interested in Lupul, and while Franson isn't terrible, IMO, it would sting too much to give up what OP is asking for here.

Besides, we've got our own RFAs to worry about, don't want to add to the pile.

Disgusting proposal, Horcoff and Cole are coming no where near this city.

Good for him. He also hasn't played a full season in nearly half-a-decade.

While both trades were somewhat underwhelming, Horcoff anchors the 4th line C and did well in the playoffs. Cole is somewhat serviceable as a grinder and scores on occasion while being wildly inconsistent, but the good thing is....

Dallas also saves = $4,750,000 in cap space alone, they also get a point producing Right handed shot.
...both come off the books at the end of this season. So, I don't get how dealing them away now and adding "Glassman" Lupul and his $5.25M cap-hit till 2017-18 helps Dallas in the long run in terms of cap-space, never mind giving up one of their top defensive prospects in return.

and Spezza is too! they are trying to win now so shedding cap space is huge for them.

Since the last 5 seasons, Lupul's total games played have been 228 out of 410 possible games. Compare that to Spezza who has played 282 games. Add to that the vastly better offensive production (0.95 ppg vs 0.76 ppg) over the same span, and it's easy to see one of them is not the same as the other.

They are most definitely not trying to win now. Their defense is not up to WC standards and adding Lupul wouldn't help them win now anyway. They're a vastly better team from where they were around UFA in 2013, but like Nill said a year ago, the team is still another year or so away from where they ought to be. I think they're better off taking their chances on the 2nd line wing with one of Ritchie or Nichushkin.

Dallas definitely is not in win now mode. Nill has only mentioned anything like that.

their divsions top 6

Chicago

Sharp/Toews/Hossa
Saad/Richards/Kane

St. Louis

Steen/Stastny/Tarasneko
Schwartz/Backes/Oshie

Colorado

O'Reilly/Duchene/Landeskog
Tanguay/MacKinnon/Iginla

Minnesota

Parise/Koivu/Pomenville
Vanek/Granlund/Niederreiter

Dallas

Benn/Seguin/Nichushkin
Cole? Horcoff? Roussel? /Spezza/Hemsky

IMO Dallas has a big hole on LW on their 2nd line. And Hemsky is solid however he's the weakest 2nd line RW of the contenders in that division. Their 2 centres are as good as anyone in the division.

Lupul is a ppg winger when healthy. He would capture what Heatley was able to accomplish as his winger.

Dallas has to go toe-to-toe with these division teams. Not to mention SJS,LAK & ANA. The goal is to win a cup and whoever comes out of the west has the best bet to win it all.

does this loom better for Dallas
Benn/Seguin/Hemsky
Cole-Peverley?/Spezza/Nichushkin

Nill said he was targeting Hemsky to play with Seguin and Benn and i like the idea of having so much size on that second line and Spezza would be a great linemate for Nuke and i could still see us adding at the deadline if Peverley doesnt play this year that would free up some money.
