Do you think Robitaille clears waivers?

I'm going to guess yes, but I've been out of pocket the last two weeks. Not really sure who else is looking for a cheap 3rd or 4th line center.

I support this decision. We needed the face-off man. Puck possession changes the game!

Just heard on 104.5:

Sent to Milwaukee: Robo, Smithson, Upshall and Zanon
On injured reserve: Nichol
Signed: Yanic Perreault

I'm not the biggest fan of this guy, nor do I think he's particularly a better fit than Robo...but I suppose they know more than we do.

Also, it looks like for now, Fiddler is the fourth line center until Nichol is back...and Tootoo has made the team.

So we'll carry 23 with that 4th line spot going between Gamache, Tootoo and Stevenson?

I like that we signed Perrault. We just got better in the faceoff circle, which in my opinion will save us 5-10 GA..

I am in support of Gamache on the 4th line now that Upshall has been sent down (still disagree with that one....he is CLEARLY NHL ready, IMO). I'm not a big Tootoo fan, and I think he is redundant with Hordichuk out there, filling the same role. We can't have two guys just trying to run people on their shift....

God, I hope Randy clears because I think we are all going to be disenchanted with Perrault midway through the season. At least he has a good shot w/faceoff skills, but the rest of his game is well....lacking. The 2 way contract shocks me......Yanic hurt himself on that one.

Why not, I think that's wonderful, especially with Nichol out there too.

You've never seen me and hipcheck play together, eh?

Seriously though, how many times after a Florida game last year did someone start a thread hating on Hordichuk? How many times did you see one started hating on Tootoo?

I see your point, but I really was disappointed to see Tootoo in over Upshall. It just seems to me that the 4th line is going to be taking a lot of penalties, what with Hordi, Nichol, and Tootoo running people non-stop....

At least it will be entertaining

Predators fans, don't put the bar too high in Perreault's case. He will win key faceoffs for you, which is great, and actually he does have the tendency to score clutch goals, but other than that, I think he's always been a painful player to watch. No defensive conciousness and his skating is below-average.

As I said, expect two things: ~60% in faceoffs, and 20-25-45.

I don't think anyone around here is.

Anyway, I hope the likes of Robo, Upshall, and Beech don't become disenfranchised in Milwaukee during the early part of the season. There is actually some pretty good AHL-level talent in the send-downs this season. Looking forward to another contending team.

Perrault signed a two-way? So all three recently acquired centers are on a two-way. I suspect they are all at the $75k threshhold as I can see all three along with Gamache and Upshall as call-up candidates during the year. When you think about it, it is actually a good strategy to carry three centers, chances are, if there is going to be some shuffling between Milwaukee and Nashville, one of those centers may get claimed.

put it this way:

denis arkhipov
clarke wilm
vitali yachmenev
denis pederson
brent gilchrist

see where i'm going with this? this guy may not be any great shakes, but he couldn't be worse than some of the guys we've had down the middle over the past 3 years.

Don't knock Vitali Yachmenev or Clarke Wilm. Yachmenev was a consistent and dependable player for the Preds for years. And while Wilm never got many games in with Nashville, he's proved to be a great asset to the Maple Leafs.

And Chipchura, what are the numbers "20-25-45" you listed after Yanic Perreault's ~60% in face-offs? If those are Perreault's expected goal and assist totals, then he'll be a very welcome addition to the Predators, IMO.

Anyhoo...

He's shaped like a pyramid with an über-wide arse. Should be great for throwing hip-checks, certainly not built for speed.

Edit: Need a pyramid-shaped Yanic Perreault av.

We will not be "disenchanted" with Perreault, that is why he signed a two way contract, if he does not good, we look at other options. He will be good though.
I mean the guy has led the league in faceoff wins for five years and running.

Also, I think Stevenson and Tootoo will get cut depending.
I would like to see what Fiddler can do a little more, but I also think Gamache is no fourth liner, he needs to be at least on the third line.

Now maybe they will test the water with Rem Murray again. But he wants to play close to home and Milwaukee is across the bay from Michigan.
