Kinda wondering who the Thrashers would've drafted by now?

2011: Couturier
2012: Grigorenko
2013: Jones
2014: Virtanen

My guesses.

...

Jones and Virtanen were gone by the time the Jets were to pick, unless you're supposing that the Thrashers would have been worse than the Jets are now.

Yeah, they'd've been way worse than the Jets. But if they had the Jets picks, I say that Grigorenko, Zadorov and Ehlers would've been the picks.

How did your 2011 pick change?

The individual rankings are downright goofy.

I'm not just talking about the scores, but the rankings at each position.

Lord help us we have zero high end goaltendingnprospects.

I assume that's out of date but I also had a pretty good laugh at it when I noticed it.

They are all weird all the time.

I mean, Comrie, Helle and Hutch should probably all be at least 8.0 with varied letter grades as they all have starter potential, but they are also far too liberal on the low end.

By the letter of the grades, every player who gets a 6.5 should have a sliver of 2nd line / 2nd pairing upside. Is there anyone in the world who thinks this is true for Cormier?

Depends if he's playing for Buffalo or not

Kasdorf is rated a 6.5 yet has a C probability of success compared to Hellebuyck's D probability.

Those letter ratings simply mean: how likely is it that the prospect will reach that level of potential. So: an 8.0D could not reach their ceiling, but still perform like a 7.0 rated player and make the NHL.

Number == ceiling
Letter == likelihood of reaching that ceiling

Maybe I'm being pedantic and that was clear to you already: if so, whoops! Hope it helped someone else.

I for one thank you I didn't know that was the system.

Excellent! Just to be more pedantic, let's look at three of our HF prospect rankings:

Ehlers: 8.0C
Petan: 7.5D
Morrissey: 7.5C

A would be a sure thing to reach their ceiling, B extremely likely, and C is a good chance. D - there are questions. Ceilings for Petan and Morrissey are judged to be the same, but Morrissey is thought to have a better chance of reaching his ceiling, most likely due to questions about Petans size. Ehlers has a higher ceiling, with as good a chance to reach it as Morrissey.

I don't always agree with the rankings, but that's the thought behind them.

I was unaware of that too. It is called probability of success which to me implied probability of a successful NHL career.

Those ratings are more than likely outdated. Hellebuyck's HF page says he's in his freshman year at Umass-Lowell

Tucker Poolman will be the new Connor Helleybuck next year. Kid is really underated and it sounds like he is going to get really good ice time at Wisconson next year

I really liked him at prospect camp. I think he has NHL potential.
