Yeah, cause it's not like the isles did not furiously shop the recent 2014 first

Would like to deal Clutterbuck, Bailey, and Colin Macdonald.
Cody Franson for Grabber?
Franson does not provide an upgrade to our bottom pairing and Grabner is worth more than that. Plus I doubt the Isles are interested in trading him now.

IMHO unlike Nino guys like Cal are a dime a dozen and he isn't big like Matt Martin. I also think Lee, Halmo, Person Sundstrom can play the same role. Guy is easily replaceable and just doesn'tgive enough offense.

That's why I also mentioned Fistric, he can handle the puck well

Isles probably won't make a trade before the season, actually I'd shocked if they do. There just isn't a lot (if any) quality defenseman available for less than overpayment.

They'll let the forwards battle it out for spots and there will be injuries. Snow waived Bouchard last year, paying him millions to play in the AHL, so he will waive a player if he doesn't work out.

I disagree. If the Islanders wait until camp and then attempt to trade the worst of the pack, thier trade values will be a lot lower then if they are traded based on expectations in the off season.

I think a trade happens before camp.

Isles are saying everyone is healthy. Big news to have Lubo healthy because he will join CDH/Hamonic in the top 4.

Isles best beat writer is Staple in Newsday. He has said Snow will contact cap crunched teams and also may look to move Grabner/Bailey. He also said a trade may not happen until training camp.

Sounds like the cap crunched teams are evaluating their options.

Snow told an interviewer he is sticking with his youth movement. The press has reported the isles are refusing to move their top kids ( centers Strome/Nelson/Lee).

The local press does seem to think Bailey and/or/Grabner will be shopped for a blueliner.

I have seen little interest among Oiler fans for a Petry/Bailey swap.

Who said they would be trading the worst of the pack? They could have a surplus of legitimate top 9 forwards.

Giordano is not on the block. The earliest he could realistically be moved is mid-season next year of contract talks are not going anywhere.

They already have one slug on the roster in Carkner

Did you seriously just compare Smid to Carkner?

Buffalo has just the defender you need...........

He's been consistent in his career (some would say consistently inconsistent, I prefer to say he is "steadily heading in the same direction")

He's a former 1st round pick (23rd overall)

He's a +38 in his NHL career (1 season of +34 and 1 season at +30, yes, THAT'S RIGHT, 2 seasons at +30 or above)

He's seasoned, he's a grizzled veteran at the prime age of 28 and looks every bit the part of a hockey player ready to take the lead and show your young kids how it's done (or not)

He's on a one year deal, like a new pair of underwear you can try him out, if he doesn't fit, you can always take him to a salvation army or goodwill box nearest you on deadline day (calling Mr. Sather)

Need a cap dump to make it happen, no problem, the Sabres can take back your dead cap weight (offer only good if 3 years or fewer on cap dump contract)

All the Sabres will be asking for in return is one of your talented, young forwards, they aren't picky here in Sabres land, so put the names in a hat and let the fun begin..............

Ladies and Gentlemen, I give you...........

The one, the only........................

Andrej Meszaros

So come on down Mr. Snow, the Sabres have been waiting for you.....................

Are they both slow skaters, which the isles usually avoid?

The isles shopped for a top 4 blueliner for most of the season. You don't think that when the Oilers shopped Smid, that they did not offer him to the NYI?
Smid hardly went for a big return.

there is a massive difference between the two though. One shouldn't be in the NHL and the other is a viable #4/5 option.

I agree he doesn't fit the Isles system and that the Isles could do better than him.
