i hope that Snow is taking a serious run at Morris. even a vast overpayment for 1 year, in order for some of the young guys to grow.

no need for a trade, if this happens. Conacher, McDonald and Boulton can start in the AHL.

I agree with the thought process that involves signing a UFA dman (righty) to come in on a short term contract and take 2nd pairing minutes. If that doesn't or can't happen then the Islanders have very promising young kids who probably deserve a legit shot at the show

Hamonic
De Haan
Visnovsky

Hickey
Donovan
Strait
Carkner
Brennan

Reinhart
Ness
Lulock
Mayfield
Pelech
the list goes on from there

1 year at 4million should get the job done. Would be a solid move by Snow

Snow is probably done until training camp. I don't think there is anything out there right now that he is willing to give up promising prospects for. We can send Lee, Reinhart, and possible Donovan to BP or waive one of Carkner or Boulton. We don't need both of them.

The Isles only really need one D-man IMO.

Hamonic/Visnovsky/de Haan/Hickey/Donovan all will be fine

an improvement on Brian Strait would be nice. Hopefully Griffin Reinhart can prove he's ready to go come training camp too.

Clitsome for Nelson/Baily/Lee. Clitsome is a good offensive defenseman signed for 3yrs

Isles could've grabbed him off waivers a little while back and are probably not interested. Nelson is worth far, far more than Clitsome in any case but Bailey is the obvious odd man out when talking of a potential Isles trade.

Clitsome is a #5 defenseman who is certainly not worth Nelson or Lee.

After Franson gets awarded a 1 year deal via arbitration maybe he can be shipped to the Islanders?

Isles need a solid , top 4.

We have discussed Franson on the nyi board. If the isles want a 3rd pairing power play specialist, they can get MDZ at probably 1/3 the salary Franson will get.

Yes, but is Clitsome the best defensemen Snow can get?

Yes, the Islanders traded for Wisniewski after Anaheim didn't like his arbitration ruling

I don't think Ness deserves to be on that list. I am somewhat surprised the Islanders even qualified him. At best he will be an AHL callup. All that being said I would place Pokka 3rd on the list(and argument could be made he better then Pulock)

I think last year made Snow realize you can not ever have too much depth.

I guess that is true but between all the guys going to Bridgeport, we probably will have to send Graham and Leduc to the ECHL(or back to junior for their overage year) and Pokka back to Finland

Maybe a 24 year old Ness would be a better callup then a 20 year old Pokka but I don't think the difference is that huge.

Lee+Bailey+Donovan+ for Yandel

Strait+ 2nd+3rd for Boychuk

Yandle-Boychuk
deHaan-Hamonic
Reinhart-Hickey

I can dream right?
seriously though, if the Isles were will to they could probably come up with enough for a package that could land Both Yandle and Boychuk...

Yandle will likely cost a lot but hes certainly worth it...

I think Yandle could be had for the right price, in the case of Boychuk Boston is up against the cap and he has a very cap friendly contract(I am guessing the Bruins place high value on that, more then a couple picks)

I would rather see Bailey out before Grabner . I don't want to lose the speed element Grabner brings.

Del Zotto had 2 years around 40 pts, but has been very underwhelming offensively since. Franson is probably good for guaranteed 30 pts, possibly more, he wasn't healthy this year and still put up numbers.

Whoever ends up with Tavares and Okposo, put them out there with Lubo and Franson, and you have a deadly PP.

No idea what to ask for in terms of return though, probably a 2nd or Johan Sundstrom?

The Isles have depth and bodies on defense. Guys like Clitsome and Franson do zero for the team. Waiver wire junk.

I don't even see a Del Zotto type being signed because Isles lack roster spots.

The problem right now is that the Isles simply don't have tradeable assets. I do not believe that Bailey or Grabner have any real trade value and Snow seeems unwilling to move Nielsen. The core young players are obviously off the table. We don't have picks to move and most of our tradeable prospects habe little value.

Unless a Vish/Wiz situation develops, I expect Isles will stand pat. I would rather pair Nielsen with other assets and look for a true top four. I just don't think Snow will go that way.

Speed is nice but Clutterbuck took over Grabner's PK role and performed better in the role. He also got similar breakaways as Grabner and converted more often. Bailey plays a much more rounded game than Grabner. If we remove his name and draft slot alot of teams would love a similar player as for his caphit. However I do think he will break out this season.

Grabner is a slightly more favored commodity to other teams due to stigma. He plays a good middle six wing role. I think him plus a pick or prospect can get us a 2nd pair or valued vet that will help us out with our emerging prospects.

Yeah, I don't understand all the Franson love either. If you swing a trade for a defenseman you do it for someone who is solid top 4. That is not Franson.
