Our Roster is almost set IMO...

After taking a closer look at our roster since Klatt has retired it's pretty clear to me that a lot of spots are NOT up for grabs.

Forwards
Tom Kostopoulos
Derek Armstrong
Valeri Bure
Michael Cammalleri
Jeff Cowan
Sean Avery
Luc Robitaille
Craig Conroy
Dustin Brown
Alexander Frolov
Eric Belanger
Pavol Demitra
Jeremy Roenick

D-men
Aaron Miller
Nathan Dempsey
Mattias Norstrom
Lubomir Visnovsky
Tim Gleason

Goalies
Jason LaBarbera
Mathieu Garon

Some might argue maybe Camms and Brown are not locks but I don't doubt for a second that their not going to have a great camp and be in the line-up opening night. Looking at this we need 1 forward and 2 d-men to fill our our 23 man roster. I'm guessing the forward will be one of the enforcers in camp so, the forwards are set, although 2 of them are going to be healthy scratches so, their going to battle to get into the line-up.

Any thoughts/opinions?

Looks very good - I agree with you on the players. There aren't many spots open at all. I think they'll pick up a defenseman along the way this season - Corvo is good enough to be in the top 6 for now. The Kings need to stay healthy for a change. Not saying they can't have any injuries, but setting the record for man games lost can't happen again. If they stay relatively healthy this season, they can do damage.

Kings will have an enforcer in the mix, they have 5 in camp with Parros, Flinn, Belanger, Legault, and Norton.

With the salary cap, I've been hearing a lot of teams having many extra forwards or D men that aren't in the top 12 at forward or 6 on D. Maybe the Kings carry 1-2 extra forwards and a 7th D man as a spare part.

You don't think six goalies (5 backups) is enough?

Probably with TK, Flinn and Norton as extras. Maybe even Weaver if Norton doesnt sign on.

I'd guess that our 3 scratches will be 1 forward, 1 defenseman, and Brad Norton (who can play both). This gives the Kings maximum flexibility, and keeps a heavyweight with the team all season.

But we already know TK is gonna be a scratch and maybe Weaver, so that leaves Norton as the only enforcer, he's not really an enforcer as much as Flinn, Belanger, and Parros is, more just a tough D man who took that role with the Kings but didnt play it in the minors or with Florida or Washington.

I'll venture out on a limb and say that it'll be K Belanger, TK and Norton.

Pfft! It wouldn't be a Kings team without a question mark in goal!

How do we already know that? We're still weeks away from opening night and the Kings have yet to play a pre-season game. A lot can happen in a few weeks with respect to player movement. Maybe a forward or two will be traded. Maybe one, possibly two of the young d-men (i.e. Grebs or Petiot) impress at camp and the Kings move a d-man in a deal to make room for one of them in L.A.? IMO, it's still a bit early to be projecting who the 4th line (and forward scratches) and 5-7 d-men will be...

Am I really the only one that thinks the Kings won't waste a roster spot on an enforcer? None of the candidates mentioned are anything other than boderline at best NHL players. I love a monster fighter as much as the next guy, but Parros for all his hard work, is just not NHL calibre. Belanger hasn't played at all in years, Norton would have to play out of position at forward, and Flinn straight-up just can't play.

I love fights and fighters, but I just can't see wasting a roster spot on one of these guys.

None of them have ever shown they can hold down an NHL roster spot, which is essential then your #1 goalie has never been a starter.

Totally disagree. The Western confernence is now tougher than the East with the amount of tough guys. The Ducks bulked up, the Preds added Hordichuk, Dallas has Erskine and Burnett, Phoenix has McAllister, Doull and a tough defense, Calgary has McCarty, Simon and Weimer. The Kings can't counter all this with Cowan and Avery, they will get worked.

They need a guy who can play agaisnt these teams esp. since the new schedule will create a lot more rivalries b/c of the amount of games against division rivals.

Flinn has improved, Belanger has only been out of the game for 2 1/4 years and was an AHL star back in the day so he can skate, Parros has improved tremendously and Norton can occasionally play. One will make the Kings, they dont want to get run again this year and DT knows that.

Nor has it been shown they can't. I'm not saying I agree with the team's decision to pick up LaBarbera in lieu of a tried-and-true veteran goalie, but I also think that if Garon and "somebody else" swap off the net-minding somewhere around 50-50, then having both Labs and Hauser in the wings as the "somebody else" isn't as bad as it might first appear. Between the three of them, you have 3 of the top-10 goalies in the AHL last year, in a season that saw the AHL plumb with NHL regulars.
