All purpose Evander Kane thread II

I was thinking about NYI and how they are just about finished their rebuild and can start competing again. I thought they adding a young, top 6 winger on the 1st line with Tavares and Okposo that it would be helpful for them for many years.

NYI has a load of good prospects/young players. Thought about this as a trade:

Nelson + Mayfield + 2016 1st round pick.

Nelson should be able to find a spot in the Jets top 9, Mayfield could eventually get in the top 6 along with Morrissey next year. And a pick that could possibly be anywhere from high to low depending on how the Islanders go.

I like it for the Islanders because they get a top, young line of E.Kane-Tavares-Okposo that should get Tavares around 100 points possibly and a dominant line physically with 2 big wingers. Dal Colle, Strome, Lee, Collberg, Ho-Sang, Cammarata are still their young players.

Kane - Tavares - Okposo
Grabovski - Strome - Kulemin
Lee - Nielsen - Bailey
Martin - Cizikas - Clutterbuck

Adding Dal Colle, Collberg, Ho-Sang possibly in a few years will look great for the Islanders.

Would have been easier giving up a 1st round pick if the 2015 wasn't given away.

A winger is not our most pressing need, would rather trade assets for a defenseman.

It's got to be Tavares or no deal.
According to Jets fans they won't trade Kane for hall.

Nelson is not being moved and the need for a LW is pretty much gone with Nelson being the top line LW next year, Kulemin brought in, and Dal Colle in the pipeline. The need is a stop gap veteran top-4 defenseman (unless Pulock is moved for a young guy under contract).

Knew Nelson was going to be hard to give up, I tried to make sure WPG had fair value as my first priority and I guess that made in favour of them.

I was thinking of adding Ellerby, he would definitely help the Islanders D.

No he wouldn't, Bogosian would. The Islanders are full of bottom pairing defensemen, the need is a top-4 at minimum.

Er, which Jets fans are you talking to? The ones with a modicum of sense know that Hall is a better player than Kane.

That's a rather large generalization. I'd do that trade in an instant. EK is a great asset, but Hall is better.

As a fan of Kane staying in Winnipeg, I'd still love to watch Kane-Tavares-Okposo as a unit.

For Adam Hall that's understandable, but Taylor Hall? I'd be willing to bet over 90% of Jets fans would trade Kane for Hall in a heartbeat.

Snow basically came out and said he is not willing to trade his top young talent, when pressed in a WFAN interview about 3-4 weeks ago.
Elliott Friedman wrote the isles will have B. Nelson playing 1st line LW, then days later Cappy gave a Newsday interview, talking about BN moving from center to JT's LW.

With Nelson/Strome/Lee in the NHL and fighting for ice time, with MDC/Ho-Sang in the pipeline....I honestly have no wish for a Kane trade. Let the isles land a second pairing vet to partner with Lubo and start the season already.

Agreed. 98% of Jets fans likely want to keep Kane anyways, and he'll slot in pretty much anywhere on the LW on the Jets. Right now, the common line drawn up for him is Kane - Perreault - O'Dell. Perreault will likely get softer minutes than Scheifele's line, and Kane leads all Jets in zone entry stats, so they should do some real damage there. O'Dell, while not having proved himself an offensive winger in the NHL, has proven himself at every level thus far and has a level of defensive acumen that is sorely needed there.

Burrows - 0 Value, Markstrom - 0 value, 2016 1st - Unknown value, Shinkaruk - boom/bust prospect for a 30 goal scoring physical, young winger, some plug and a 2nd in a deep draft? Why do they do this?

You do realize Burrows has had only one bad season? And Markstrom just needs time to develop. Also have you even seen Shinkaruk play? He's looking really good. And the only way a Draft pick can go wrong is bad scouting and improper so a team can only blame themselves if they screw up a pick unless there's an injury

Make that draft pick from Vancouver a 2015 first and it might be something.

That was one fan, you have one that was trying to trade yak for unrealistic value back. Looks like he finally stopped, he kept getting dumped on.

I'm a Canuck fan. I've watched many of our prospects including Shinkaruk. No prospect is a "sure thing". Winnipeg would be taking a huge risk hoping he pans out, and also, the 2016 pick is a complete unknown right now, and Burrows is overpaid and has not guarantee of bouncing back. Kane is proven, young, NHL ready talent that would be a great player to have for our now AND future. I'd give up Horvat +++ for Kane.
