Bang For Your Buck

A little boredom got the best of me so far this morning. Picture of what kind of bang for our buck we got this past season. Not exactly accurate as I used the full season for players who were traded to us or from us. Didn't get as into as pro-rating salaries and all that.

What does this tell us? Well, nothing we don't already know.
  1. Points and goals aren't everything
  2. We need players who can come in and contribute on ELCs
  3. We need veteran players on bang for buck contracts (like Pouliot last season)
  4. The premium you pay for UFAs doesn't always pay off in a $ per action way
  5. etc.... (draw your own conclusions)

(EDIT - Open the image in a new tab to blow it up)

Surprises?

In a $ / point standpoint, John Moore was the 5th ranked skater at $54,000. Dominic Moore right behind him at $55,000. Despite his salary, Marty was also able to keep his $ / point below $100K at $94,202.90. An even better number for Marty if you look at his AAV / point which sits at $81,521.74

Also a bit of a surprise was Stepan's A1:A2 ratio. Comes in a little low at 1.35. Brad Richards on the other hand lights that category up at a 2.44 ratio.

Again, this doesn't really tell us much. There's a lot more to the games than this. Just thought it would be an interesting Sunday morning look.

How can you adjust for new contracts? They haven't played under the new contracts yet. Kinda defeats the whole purpose.

why the **** do you keep saying this? What are you implying when you shout this phrase? Do you want bigger players? Bigger production from players? More minutes from guys we have?
