One thing I will say for Schremp is that he seems more committed to rounding out his game than Hemsky was when he was here as a 19 year old. Maybe that's a communication barrier thing, but it's the impression I've gotten from various interviews and the like. If the NHL is really going to be more offensive, Schremp should make the club.

I personally believe Shremp has what it takes to make this team, as well as a willingness to learn and adapt for whatever shortcomings he may have.

Now, I didn't want to start a new thread, BUT in the 3 pre-season games last night:

1) all of the Minnesota - Phoenix games goals were on the pp, each team with over 10pp's... 5 goals total..
2) 4 out of carolina's 6 goals were on the pp.. (they went 4/14, wash 0/4)
3) Edmonton's goal was a PP goal in our game (not counting shootout)

Time to face facts.. we NEED to get it done on the PP.. not including the shootout there were 10PP goals last night and 3 even strength goals..

I say Shremp's a lock..

Ironically though, both Calgary and Edmonton failed to really contribute on the powerplay.

Of course missing Iginla IS going to do that

I have to agree with this. Schremp provides a powerplay threat that this team is severely lacking. Also, with the penalties that are expeted to be called this year, having a good powerplay is more important than ever. As long as Schremp can continue to do what he's been doing, he'll stick.

I love Schremp on the Oilers, and I love this lineup with Robbie as our #2C.

Smyth - Peca - Hemksy
Horcoff - Schremp - Dvorak
Torres - Stoll - Pisani
Moreau - Reasoner - Laraque

Pronger - Staios
Smith - Bergeron
Ulanov - Semenov

Conklin
Markkanen

the 9 games thing comes from the limit on the number of games a player can play without taking up a year of his eligibility ... i believe the limit is 10.... so if they let him play for 9 on the big club and sent him down to junior, they would still have the full 7 years of NHL eligibility with him

i'm pretty sure you're right on that and I think that's what the Pens did with Fleury the other year.. Personally I see absolutely no harm in playing him for those 9 games, see how it goes.. and if he's contributing well then it's worth it to burn a year IMO.
