I see why people vote EJ
He just doesnt do it enough for one or consistently well for two IMO.
Id love to see him pinch in more on plays like a 4th fwd...

...but unless we get him a stellar stay at home defender we can all continue to enjoy his sporadic offensive rushes once every 10 games.

EJ has to be the most frustrating player to watch for me.

Every time he makes an amazing play offensively im like
"Ok here it comes, finally..."

Duchene = best stick handler
Landy = best/most consistent at entering the zone with possession
EJ = best highlight moments
MacK = will be the best in all 3 areas pretty soon

I would define puck carrying as the ability to carry the puck from one end to the other while maintaining possession. It isn't about the best dangles or moves, but most effective at maintaining possession from one area to the next. Landy is the most effective player in that area. Duchene makes a ton of awe inspiring moves, but those are typically down low and in tight (IMO easily the best stick handler on the team). EJ has moments of greatness, but isn't consistent. MacK will be better than all 3.

Tangs is the best at causing offsides.

Parenteau used to have such good hands and patience to enter a zone but he was just too slow and east/west and it threw the entire team off. He would end up all by himself because others would have to slow down or start curling away and the other team would just strip him at the line.

Personally, I don't buy the 'consistently' argument. When EJ makes an end to end rush, it works more often than anyone on this team hands down. The only knock is that he doesn't do it as often, but devil's advocate might say that he only does it when he's able to and anymore would result in turnovers.

In terms of most effective at getting the puck single handedly from defense to offense, it is EJ hands down. If you had one rush to win a game you might want Duchy or MacK or Landy on the other end to finish the play. But you could ask for no one better to get the puck into the zone.

I'm going with Duchene at the moment (too few posts to vote so far). A healthy Duchene is nearly untouchable. I do like EJ's skills with the puck quite a bit but, he looks for the outlet pass more often than other guys so I'd have a hard time putting him at the top. More of a style of play thing than skill, I guess. Barrie also has some brilliant moves and works very well at times. I remember him spinning a few guys out of their skates two years ago and setting up good rushes afterward. Just shook off the aggressive man and burned down with his speed. He's got potential to definitely be the best.

Mackinnon and Landeskog could both develop to be the guy too. I feel Mackinnon has some learning to do to get to where Duchene is. Landeskog is tough to ignore. He commands the puck very well and can bully other people when they try to get in the way. Right now, I think Duchene's ability to make so much more of everything puts him at the top though.

Duchenes the best at carrying through traffic. Landry is great at gaining the zone but it has a lot to Fo with his smarts and dump retrievals. Eh can be beastly with his wingspan and skating. I would also say Barrie is good when facing a heavy forecheck. He has a lot of poise and he times his moves perfectly creating r time and space(Ejs also good at this)

If we are only talking about skating the puck up the ice than the answer is John Mitchell. Piss poor hockey sense with a world class ability to carry the puck.

Before opening the thread my answer was Pronger. He carried Chicago's puck for two weeks.
