I actually like Tim Erixon. Without him we never would have received Tyler Wotherspoon, Markus Granlund or Ladislav Smid! Thank you for your sacrifice Tim, you made Calgary proud.

You are probably right. But 3 thru 7 are pretty interchangeable IMO with Wideman being the worst based on both his play while he was in the lineup and the way the Flames played when he was hurt.

Don't kid yourself, Wideman needs a bounce back year or he will become a five million dollar healthy scratch.

As for Wotherspoon, he could use some more AHL seasoning, but who else is there? Seiloff needs AHL time even more than Wotherspoon, and with Cundari, you can only have so many D on the wrong side of 6 feet tall.

What the Flames need is a #3 to bump everybody down a notch.

Even with Wideman being injured and all, he still put up 21 points in 46 games, 2 points from a .5 PPG player still. He'll be fine, give Wotherspoon the top 2 AHL minutes instead.

True. The Flames also had a much better GAA and winning% without him. I'm not saying he can't bounce back. What I am saying is that he NEEDS to bounce back or he will be watching.

Remember, he is a Feaster guy. Although I'm sure Burke/Treliving want to see him succeed, their jobs/reputation in no way depend on it.

Take ference take ference take ference

He fits the mold of the Flames. He has "grit" and "truculence" but is overpaid and lacks skill. If you like Engelland (for some reason), youll love him

Funny thing is, I really hoped he would have signed here. However, after seeing him play with the Oilers, he really is a shell of his former self. With that being said, I'd still likely bring him in if the price were cheap.

Calgary would likely prefer to start Wotherspoon/Sieloff in Adirondack. Flames have a glut of forward prospects they could dangle as bait.
Why use assets to acquire a #6-7 guy? There are plenty still available as UFA's. If they were going to acquire someone in a trade they might as well try to improve on what they already have.

Yes and no. It would allow us to put Scuderi on the right side, and one of Despres/Dumo/Maatta on the left side. I don't really think we're going to be able to move Scuderi any time soon.

Martin - Letang
Despres - Ehrhoff
Maatta - Scuderi

He looked good before he hurt his ankle. And no he's not that bad. But Pittsburgh has a bunch of young D (Despres, Maatta, Dumoulin, Samuelsson, Pouliot, Harrington) who all need NHL icetime before they have to hit waivers. So moving him, and his 3.375m contract is what makes the most sense to Pittsburgh's blueline. We also play a more up tempo game that doesn't really suit him.

In the right situation with the right partner he could play in the top 4 and look decent (like he did in LA playing with Doughty).

I'd only be willing to take on Scuderi if Beau Bennett was coming back... But lots of Pens' fans want to keep the guy, which I don't blame them.

Smid has been excellent for Calgary, he has been closer to a 4/5 for us. Perhaps the problem with his game in Edmonton was the system or the coach? Or maybe he just needed a change.

Nate Guenin, right handed 6/7 who would compliment Russell

With Quincey re-signing and needing to make room at some point for the youngsters I do believe he will be the one traded unless he bounces back and at that point he may still be traded but hopefully it won't be for a 7th.

Wouldn't have a problem with trading Lashoff or even waiving him if somebody else on the roster goes down and bring up Marchenko, Ouellet or Backman to play the 6th spot.

No way the Wings would give up Smith for a second. They have way to much invested in him and last year he finally started to break through a bit in the playoffs. He was arguably one of our best against Boston.

No real need to move him as he's one of left handed guys who actually wants to play on the right side. If they were to move him it might possibly be in a package for a better Dman.

Would love Giordano but know the Flames don't want to move him.

Would love to land one of these D for one of our F prospects. Flames and Pens would make great trading partners.
