Hodgson has a good repeat year.
Myers continues to progress a little.
Gorges can compensate for Ehrhoff's minutes.
Enroth doesn't **** the bed.

Really, I think we've about got this.

Bring the attitude that we want to repeat and not be content with just winning last years cup. Avoid the Cup hangover. Stay healthy.

Yeah you would need more then that.

Penguins-
Big ticket winger (E. Kane, etc)
Johnstons system works
Crosby and Malkin have good playoffs
Fluery doesn't choke (he didn't this year) or Greiss steps up (possible).
Stay healthy

Actually not that much. Winger is easily the hardest part. Then with Kunitz, Hornqvist, and X winger Sid and Geno can't possibly disappear. Goalies would be interesting.

Corey Perry scores more goals in the playoffs.
Ryan Kesler can stay healthy and play like he did in the 2011 playoffs.
Cam Fowler continues to improve.
Hampus Lindholm doesn't suffer a sophomore slump.
John Gibson or Frederik Andersen are able to be good for the long playoff run.
Sami Vatanen improves the teams powerplay.
Bruce Boudreau is able to get his team to win in game 7
Bob Murray makes the needed moves to improve the team before trade deadline is over.

Those are the most important things for the Ducks to win the Stanley Cup for this coming season.

Oilers could win of they replaced every player on the roster with a better version of themselves

Blackhawks

We roll 4 solid lines....unlike the line of Bollig/Handzus/Versteeg we had in game 7 wcf.

If the Sharks pick up a decent top 4 LHD to play behind Vlasic, everyone stays healthy and Niemi reverts to his 2013 self during the playoffs...

- Sedin's rebound and Burrows too.
- Kassian takes the next step and becomes a 20 goal scorer.
- Bonino plays like a 2C.
- Benning makes a couple of tweaks at the deadline.
- Edler plays well otherwise defense is good.
- It would be nice to have Horvat have a awesome year and bump Bonino down to 3C.

The Canucks have great depth and defense. I think they just have to strengthen that 2nd line a bit more but otherwise the Canucks are a deep team as if now.

Sedin - Sedin - Vrbata
Kassian - Horvat - Burrows
Higgins - Bonino - Vey
Matthias - Richardson - Hansen/Dorsett

Hamhuis - Bieksa
Edler - Tanev
Sbisa - Stanton

Miller
Lack

That lineup isn't bad actually. Bottom D pairing is a bit rough, but that's it.

If Scrivens runs away with the Vezina, Petry runs away with the Norris, and Hall takes the next step and hits 100 points. Then we might have a hope. I'd say the only one that could realistically happen is Hall hitting 100 points, so we're pretty much hopeless. We'll need a big year out of quite a few people just to make the playoffs.

Pavelec pulls his groin and Hutchinson reveals himself to be a .922 goalie.
Thorburn never sees the ice.
Kane has a monster season.
Wheeler doesn't start the season cold like usual.
Scheifele carries his progression from the last half of last season into this one.

Ribiero and Neal find chemisty and are PPG or better
Rinne, Weber, Josi, Neal, and Ribs all stay healthy
Laviolette's system increases offense without sacrificing defense
Jones, Ellis, and Ekholm fill the roles of #3, #4, and #5 D very well
Smith, Wilson, Forsberg, and Jarnkrok take big steps forward
Rinne steal us the WCF and the SCF
Pigs fly

Alternate route: move to the eastern conference....

I'm just hoping for the playoffs

When the soaring sows are forced from their underground lairs caused by someone blowing out the pilot light in hell.

Or if every other team (and their minor league affiliates) contracts a season-long disease allowing only one team to play.
And the Blues would still likely find a way to lose.

For Minnesota, I think if we have solid goaltending, and all the kids take another step forward (Brodin, Grandlund, Nino, Coyle, Spurgeon, Scandella, and Haula) they could actually have a chance. It would also help if Zucker, Dumba, or Folin emerged as a good NHL player this year they way Haula did at the end of last season.

This is the first time as a Wild fan that I have been able to look at my team and think a cup is possible. Maybe not likely, but possible.

Colorado:

likely=75ish% chance
possible=50ish%
concerning=25ish%

Duchene doesn't beat himself up and scores consistently.
(possible/likely)

Iginla doesn't feel old/functions well with O'Reilly/Duchene
(concerning)

MacKinnon not only avoids a slump but starts taking over games more and more.
(possible)

MacKinnon develops defensively to fill Stastny's gap. He has magnificent physical tools to work with.
(possible/concerning)

Briere feels revitalized in Colorado and forms a dangerous third line with McGinn and Mitchell
(concerning)

We sign Kevin Hayes and our fourth line loses it's goonery and becomes a decent grind line with Hayes-Winchester-Talbot
(possible, depends on injuries)

Johnson continues to gain confidence and is really good.
(likely)

Johnson learns to get his ****ing shot though.
(concerning)

The Flames are in a race for the bottom but Giordano is too good for that so they take some valuable picks/prospects and some dead weight off our hands in exchange for him. (He was just the first good D-man on a potential lottery team that came to mind, don't hate me. Giordano would have to waive his NMC but the potential of winning a cup with Iggy and Tangs would appeal I would think.)

Hejda/Stewart have the legs to play as passable interim #2 D-men.
(concerning)

Barrie continues on his trajectory of becoming a deadly offensive defenseman
(possible)

Holden develops into a decent puck carrier
(possible)

Varlamov has a repeat Vesina worthy season which continues throughout the playoffs.
(concerning)

Injuries are significantly less bad. Last year with Duchene and Barrie mostly out of the playoffs and our #2 D-man Hejda playing with a ****ed up hand and offensive depth in Tanguay/Michell out we were hit really hard. Maybe not as badly as Detroit/Pittsburgh but pretty bad.

The team is mostly young and average sized so having injuries being less bad than league average is probably likely.

If all of these come true and injuries don't strike:

O'Reilly Duchene Iginla
Landeskog Mackinnon Tanguay
McGinn Mitchell Briere
Hayes Winchester Talbot

Giordano Johnson
Hejda Barrie
Holden Stuart

Varlamov

Win the cup. Or at least have a damn good shot at it.

TB:

-Bishop plays like he did pre-injuries last season.
-Palat is remotely close to the beast he was in the 2nd half.
-Hedman repeats and finds chemistry with Stralman.
