Funniest hockey moments

Who says that hockey can´t be fun. Here are some moments that have raised a smile on my face...

Mike Modano gets it... twice

I saw this clip on Don Cherry´s Rock´em Sock´em (don´t remember which one) and it´s funny in a grotesque sort of way. First Modano takes a tremendous hit which leaves him basically unconscious and hurt. As if that wasn´t bad enough, the guys who are carrying Modano on a stretcher manage to (almost) drop him while trying to lift him into the ambulance. OUCH! This is like straight from a Laurel & Hardy picture.

Frank Mahovlich "gets horny" on Tretiak (4th game of Summit S.)

What was Mahovlich thinking? I know that it was a horrible game for Team Canada, but charging the goalie and holding him on the ice for a good ten seconds is a bit desperate, eh? And the graziest thing is that the referee doesn´t even stop the play. What if Canada had scored? I guess they would have allowed it(?)

Tommy Salo´s "great deflection" in the Winter Olympics ´02 vs. Belarus

Salo really deserves better than to be remembered from this (his team mates were equally to blame), but I couldn´t help feeling great satisfaction that those (usually) lucky Swedes flopped big time (and against Belarus, of all countries). The real Miracle on Ice.

Alan Eagleson "is happy" for Soviet national team after the 3rd game of Challenge cup

Eagleson´s SLIGHTLY forced smile when he gives the trophy to Soviet captain Boris Mikhailov is one the more funny sights in hockey. I can see what he is thinking: "Yeah, take the damn trophy, you commie ******, we´ll show you yet!" But worse was still to come for Canadian hockey in about 2 years time.

i believe the player was steve sullivan (in chicago), who had a fan yapping at him throughout the game. a little later on the puck went out of play and smacked the guy right in the head, cut him too.

That was so unbelievable it almost seemed scripted. It was Sullivan in Chicago against Colorado. Sullivan gets cut with a high stick and the fan is mocking him pointing to his own face in the same area Sullivan was cut.

Later, Roy clears the puck over the glass and out. Now, I don't know if Sullivan was already on the ice or he asked to go out because he saw who got hit, but damned if it isn't the same guy who was mocking him who got hit in almost the same place

Speaking of which, still can't believe Gretzky admitted to wetting his pants on the bench in his book ....does that count as funny ...or sad?

Yup, and the best part was when Sullivan went over and laughed at him just like the way the guy laughed at him when he got hurt, that was one of the most classic and funniest moments I have ever seen in sports.

That time there were the two players on the ice (I believe one was Darren McCarty, but I can't remember who the other one was) who absolutely had to be the last one off, so they waited there at the gate for like 5 minutes after the game because neither one would budge. Finally they decided who would go with a game of rock-paper-scissors.

That was great.

It was Sandy McCarthy when he was with the Flames. Sandy won.

Back in the late 80's at the old Boston Garden, some guy at a Jets-Bruins game hopped over the glass as the teams were lined up for a faceoff. He started jogging toward the referee, supposedly to complain about a call, and linesman Ron Asselstine skated in full tilt from the blue line and mercilessly flattened the intruder from behind.

Craig Janney wrapping around the net with the puck in his hand and throwing into the net... and it counted.
