Kings D-Men and Starting Goalie

Any predictions who the D-Men will be for the start of the season? And who lines up on the pp...what about Grebeshkov? Will he be in there?

Question two: Will it be Garon be the number 1 this year? I say yes.

thanks

D-men will be:
Norstrom
Miller
Gleason
Visnovsky
Dempsey
Corvo or possibly Grebeshkov(Murray has been quoted as saying
that he's ready)
Norton(possibly signed as a #7)

And yes, it seems as though Garon has a lock on the #1 spot.

Norstrom - Corvo/Grebeshkov
Visnovsky - Gleason
Miller - Dempsey
Petiot

Those are the defensive pairings I'm guessing...

And yeah, Garon is the starting goalie

Murray has been playing Miller with Gleason a lot, so I'd expect they'd stay together. Visnovsky/Dempsey would be the 3rd pairing.

Grebeshkov has been paired with Visnovsky in camp, I believe.

Let me just dust of this little doozy

This may sound a little crazy because of the way some of you feel about AM and how he handles kids, but I think the quicker Grebs can get into AM's hands the better. I think some of the same issues that plagued Frolov when he first came over are plaguing Grebs and I think AM's work ethic style might do wonders for Grebs. It's kind of like immersion philosophy of learning a second language - sometimes people just learn better when forced to sink or swim. You can't do this will all prospects as some will just give up on it. But from what I've read from Grebs former russian coaches and what I've heard from people who followed Grebs in russia that the kid is tough as nails when it comes to mental pressure (even though he might be suffering from occassional on-ice mental lapses). - DeathFromAbove, circa March of 2005
He might not be physically ready for the NHL yet, but I still think that he being in AM's hands will be better for him in the long run.

I think pairing Visnovsky with Grebeshkov is a huge mistake, both guys are small. They should be matching Dempsey, Grebs, and Vish up with Miller, Gleason and Matty, so it's one big guy with one little guy.

I don't really care who makes it between Grebs and Corvo but I want Norton to be the #7 guy, not Weaver.

It's better that Norton makes the team as a forward and be used as an emergency d-man.
It's much easier to lose a forward for 5 minutes than a D-man

I agree - plus Murray likes to have at least one unit that can move the puck from either side.

We may balk at a Visnovsky-Grebeshkov combo, but it is not necessarily a bad idea.

If he makes the team at forward though that means the end of Ken Belanger or Ryan Flinn, because the Kings and most teams with the cap now are only going to be carrying 1-2 extra forwards and one extra D man.

So if the Kings carry Weaver or Corvo as the extra #7 (considering that Grebs makes it as the #6 guy) and TK looks to be one of the extra forwards and then you make Norton the other, then Belanger probably doesnt sign and Flinn is in Manchester. And as much as I like Norton he isnt the fighter or intimidator Flinn or Belanger is.

But hey, you never know, maybe the Kings will carry 4 exta guys, 2 forwards, 1 D man, and Norton who can play both.

That sounds good, but what happens to Corvo? And Grebs back to the minors then?

Trade Corvo to Atlanta for all I care. He knows a bunch of their guys from last season in Chicago...

Grebs to Manchester and hope he can learn to play defense...

That would be cool if Petiot made it and was paired with Visnovksy and they did deal Corvo and Grebs goes back to Manchester, then Weaver or Norton can be the #7 guy.

Weaver, Zizka (sp), holland, Corvo, Modry, and Modry all suck! Why are they here? Who am I forgeting? He have our d-men, sign Norton as our " tough defensemen" and lets play the game.

Unfortunately they can't do that. The roster maximum is 23.
