OK, I'm home.

Some general thoughts on the game:

1. LaBarbera looked very good, particularly in the shootout. He is very sound positionally and covers a lot of net. I don't see Hauser beating him out for the last spot.

2. Eric Belanger is the most underrated player on the team. He always seems to make solid plays that are spectacular only to those who know how difficult what he just did is. I can't imagine that he won't make the team.

3. Our top two lines didn't look really good or really bad to me. Flashes of good, certainly, but it seems like they need some time to gel. We aren't going to scare any teams with our top six, but we may win a lot of games with them.

4. I am impressed by several players I had the chance to chat with between periods. Noah Clarke, Denis Grebeshkov, Richard Petiot and TK are all really nice kids who are excited to have a chance to play in the NHL. I wish them all the best.

5. I think Parros will be cut in the next round.

I was sitting right in that corner and when he started dancing it was hilarious... Good for him to do that. My wife and sister in law never gone to a hockey game when they saw him do that really were impressed. Its a way to get fans to come back... Great by JR....

hope he gets back on the ice as quickly as possible....

I was a little drunk and after Brown scored I ran down to the glass and started pounding on it. The usher in the aisle got all bent and we started yelling at each other. I guess he had never been to a hockey game before and thought I was going to break it.

i'd like to add...

i think Labarbara's ONLY problem is handling the puck. he's too indecisive, and a bit slow. the ice was bad (REALLY BAD)... the puck was crawling all night. he made a bad pass which led to a bad defensive play by Visnovsky that led to an Av's goal.

Nathan Dempsey NEEDS to show a little something more than a little sissy wrist shot from the point. he was outright LOUSY! Demitra also played miserably.

did anyone else find it interesting that the ONLY player NOT old enough to party (yet, he turns 21 in November), was the best player all night? he chased Blake all over the place.

Cammalleri, continues to get outmuscled off the puck, and can only score when there are no defenders near him. (interesting note... i ran into him in the bathroom on Friday night, and thought to myself; wow, maybe he IS 5'9. then, i noticed the 3" lifts he was wearing)

about half way through the 2nd period, i told my woman that Steve Konowalchuck was the best player on the ice for the Av's. and that if they won, he was gonna score the winner.

i thought Ian Laperriere should've gotten 2 minutes for Unsportsmanlike, when he dropped the gloves LOOKING for a fight (for at least 10 seconds), and got no takers.

hey GM, what odds did they give at the MGM? i got 20-1 over at the Wynn.

I saw Jimmy Fox twice at a distance and then when we were leaving in the sea of people, i spotted him right in front of me. I said too bad about the game and he said to not worry about it and we were really looking strong regardless. He also said it was great to be around the fans again. I was the only person that at that time that recognized him.

I see him from time to time at Staples, he seems to like walking amongst the fans before the games and after.

He sat at the end of my row during one period, and a few rows up earlier in the game. I walked by and said "Hey, Jim!" like I knew him. LOL

From everything that I've heard, the ice was really bad in Vegas. Pucks bouncing all over the place. I wouldn't try to judge the play of either team from this game.

Agreed. Eric looked great out there. I really hope mgmt. doesn't trade him.
