Who should the Sabres sign, if anyone? Graves and Thomas have been mentioned. Personally, I think Graves is a better fit, but I am curious to see what everyone thinks.
If you have other suggestions, put them in and I'll edit the poll to include them.
How many times in professional sports has a team intentionally chosen a make-believe player? The best part was that Tusjimoto played for the Tokyo Katanas, which translated means Tokyo Sabres.
He or Graves would be great for the Sabres. I like Thomas, but I don't think he has much of an impact on how his teammates play.
I would love to see Claude Lemeuix as a Sabre, he would not only bring a physical gritty edge to us that we need he could also add leadership. Not only that, he could score some goals as well. Claude would be a 3rd or 4th liner and perhaps make up for all the injuries we currently have.
I'd have to guess ~$1 million. I think the situation that's offered is more important than the money at this point in his career. I think he'd want to be assured of 15 mins icetime per game. Playing closer to home might be a factor too. The Sabres, and probably every other team, play with a lot more intensity when they're emotionally involved in the game. They need a guy that'll stir things up when they come out flat. It's happened too much the last few seasons.
I'd like to see Lemieux too. I didn't see that much of him last year, so I don't know if he's done, but we need dirty/gritty players like Graves / Lemieux / Dale Hunter. I'd much prefer to see that type of player to Steve Thomas. And whoever we'd sign would be an improvement over Botterill.

Botterill gives us some much needed size though, 6'4, 217. I say give him a chance and see what he can do this year before we go sign one of those veterans. Though I wouldn't mind seeing any of them here I'm all for seeing what some of our guys can do and prove.

Botterill is slow as molasses.
Size by itself doesn't mean jack. Gratton had size but all that meant is he's a big ***** instead of simply a *****.

Yeah but he parks infront of the net which not many other guys on this team can do and he is not moved easily, yes I know Brier goes and gets his nose dirty but Botteril is big and can bang in loose pucks just by standing there, gratton rarely went to the front which is a big reason why he sucked.
SIgn both Wideman and Paetsch. We need as many bodies as possible wether it be for our use or collateral!
How many players do the Sabres have under contract now? The limit is 50. The penalty for exceeding the limit is loss of draft picks. Players that have to be signed before next June 1st should also be factored in. I'd imagine a cautious guy like Regier who knows the rules, unlike that guy in Florida, is going to leave himself plenty of room with the limit.
