No. Blackburn was lifting weights on his own when he injured his shoulder.

I've got an inside source that says Sather actually called him up 3 minutes before his injury, telling him to increase the amount of weight he was lifting....

I am not saying that ... but if he was pressured to bulk up because he was expected to be the starter again after his rookie season ... isn't there something to be said about once again this team rushing prospects?

Maybe this is a dumb question, but why do goalies have to bulk up?

I don't think there's any causal relationship between being rushed to the NHL and the injury. If there is any link it certainly isn't a direct one.

Is there a correlation...

between working out and being an NHL starter? Is one to say that Blackburn, if he was still in juniors, would not lift weights? Heck, he would've been out of juniors anyways and preparing for NHL camp.

Also, for the record, Blackburn wasn't rushed. He was used improperly, yes, rushed? No. The kid was ready for NHL backup duty. As an NHL backup, injuries may occur to the starter and thus you are a starter. Unfortunately, there was no real backup at the time, so he was overused. But of course, that didn't result in his injury, which was 100% separate.
