I think (maybe its just wishful thinking) that Rangers will call him up before the season opener. I sense they want him to join the Packs training camp and hopefully dominate in that..give him a scare that he doesn't have a sure spot on the Rangers. Though if he continues to struggle with the Packs camp then he should stay until he understands that he has to fight for a spot just like every other player playing in the Pack. He definitely has more skills then most of the Pack and a lot of our rookies...its when he puts his skill and heart together does he really dominate.

It's getting late for Balej quite early in this organization. The Rangers want to "rebuild" as quickly as possible. This was Balej's best chance to be a part of that. Hopefully, he will play so well that he has to be recalled and then stick with the big club. If he doesn't play really well in Hartford, or blows his next chance with the Rangers, then I think he's trade bait.

PS, didn't vote, since there is no option that fits.

They must have some kind of plan for him. If they were just giving up on him now, they'd probably just throw him on the NHL roster and let him burn out there. They see enough in him to continue working with him.

I say no. Ribeiro is a similar player as Balej, except he has vision and knows how to change pace with his skating and use passing feints. If I were Balej, I'd be studying tons of Ribeiro game tapes.

They are both small guys with long sticks, excellent hands and average skating. Except Balej likes to deke guys out, while Ribeiro just dekes to buy time to pass.

How much earlier is the trade deadline this year? I assume the Rangers will dump Rucinsky, Straka, Rucchin, and any other veteran that other teams want to rent at the deadline for prospects and picks. Then Balej and the rest of the Wolfpack will come up to finish off the season. He'll get a better opportunity to prove himself then.

I can't guess...

my gut tells me Balej will be home in Slovakia next year playing. My hope is that he takes this demotion as a slap in the face and goes out to prove something. If he doesn't come out guns blazing in the first several games in Hartford, I don't think he's worth much.

Balej would be our fastest prospect if he was on the Habs, that says a lot since we have guys like Plecanek, Perezhogin and Higgins.

I think a lot depends on how he reacts to being sent down. he can see it as a wake up call and fire out of the gtes, in which case he'll be back. If he sulks and gets off to a slow start with the 'Pack, he could be left behind.

This should open a spot up for Prucha which I think has been well deserved.

Funny, I'm majoring in Business Marketing/Management. And I know, we have to take all kinds of courses that have NOTHING to do with our major. Like Metaphysics, accounting and such.

his lack of consistancy. Until he realizes that you have to bring your A game every shift he will be disappointed. He has to understand that this organization is not the same it was when he was traded for. We have more prospects that are closer than we had 2 years ago.

Obviously not hockey related, but if I can offer a quick comment, I'd hardly call accounting not related to business management. I assume that somewhere down the road you plan to be in a position where you manage a division/own your own business/etc. and TRUST me you want to be able to understand financial statements inside and out even if your focus is more on the sales/marketing end.

Don't mean to be preachy, just giving you the benefit of my experience.

I want to cast a write in.....

He'll be called up and play some spot games this season. Never earning a fulltime spot.
